Categories Of Racism

Race: a socially constructed category of people who share biologically transmitted traits that members of a society consider important. Racism: the belief that one racial category is innately superior or inferior to another. In today’s society, the relation between race and racism go hand in hand, even though they are completely different. Minorities are victimized every day because of the color of their skin, hair texture, and facial features. Primarily, people tend to see only three racial categories: Black, White, and Hispanic. The three racial categories are also considered “Minorities.” which means “any category of people distinguished by physical or cultural difference that a society sets apart and subordinates.” Racism still remains a significant social problem due to the fact that one race thinks that they are better than the other.
