CASE 1: ALMA ELECTRONICS: I’ll Dream of You
ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT

Executive Summary Mr. Andy Mallari is the owner of electronics shop that started 1979. His shop is selling parts that used in assembly and maintenance of radio, tape recorder, amplifiers and various related appliances. After 11 years, the business expanded and continuously picking up. The operation covers sales and repair. But Mr. Mallari perspective has changed by drastically when he met his former classmate Estelito Chan, owner of well established appliance assembly plant in Manila. Mr. Mallari thinks that he can follow the footsteps of his friend. Mr. Mallari has three sons; all are belonging top ten in their perspective classes. He thinks all the three have potential to help him realize his dream of establishing his own assembly plant. His immediate concern now is to identify the right college courses for his children.
ISSUE/PROBLEM: Mr. Mallari wants to achieve his dream of establishing his own company and he wants to use his sons in achieving that dream. There are many ways of doing this and one of which is through their education. Finding the best institution and course related to his business for his son would be the step closer to achieve that goal.
1. What college course will best suit Mr. Mallari’s son?
a. Will his sons accepts their fathers idea?
2. How will Mr. Mallari established his own assembly plan?
Objective
To be able to determine the right college courses for each of his sons
Persuade Mr. Mallari’s son to take the college courses their father picked for them.
Pursue Mr. Mallari’s dream to have his own well established plant.

Cause of Problem
Mr. Mallari’s dream of establishing his own appliance assembly plant of achieving his own dream has entirely nothing to do with his sons future college courses.
