Forensic Psychology involves applying psychology to the filed of criminal investigation and the law. I have an undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University and my major was Political Science and Philosophy. I worked as a Legal Assistant in a Law Firm for 8 years and obtained my Paralegal Certificate from Blackstone University in Dallas, Texas. I have spent many long hours in courtrooms and find it fascinating. I have interest in the criminal mind, as well as the rehabilitation of criminals.

Significant points include: “34% of psychologists are self-employed, mainly as private practitioners and independent consultants.” Furthermore “job opportunities should be the best for those with a doctoral degree in a subfield such as health…those with a bachelor’s degree will have limited prospects.” This information did not surprise me. It is a very a very competitive field which sort of excites me. A positive point is that employment is expected to grow 12% from 2008 to 2018 because of increased demand for psychological services in schools, hospitals, social service agencies, mental health centers, substance abuse treatment clinics, consulting firms and private …show more content…

The assessment helps determine the levels to which ones eight intelligences are developed.(Center, Bishops, Kravitz) Howard Gardner is the one who developed the test and he believes “that the way you learn is a unique blend of intelligences resulting from your distinctive abilities, challenges, experiences and training.” (Center, Bishops, Kravitz) The results indicate that I have highly developed verbal-linguistic, musical, interpersonal, and logical-mathematical intelligence. In sum I communicate well, have music sensitivity, communicate with others well and understand logical reasoning. This indicates to me that I will work well in groups, and maybe would do well studying with music. I especially like Classical

After Graduate School, I hope to have my PhD in psychology or my doctorate in psychiatry. I would like to start out working in jails, talking to criminals and analyzing their brains versus the brain of an average adult to study how the brain reacts with criminal activity and why they do and feel what they do. I have heard that a person can not do that type of work for very long because it is emotionally tasking so after that, I would like to open my own counseling practice up. I would do either marriage and family therapy or focus on teenage depression. Eventually, I would like to retire into school psychology or become a psychology teacher. Also, if I ever have enough money, I will buy a house devoted to taking in stray animals…

When it comes to my education my short-term goal is to finish out this school year and maintain my current GPA. I find it easier to motivate myself each day if I have set in stone grade goals in mind. My long-term education goal is to finish my Associate of Applied Business degree in spring 2017 and my Associate of Arts degree in spring of 2018. I have enough classes and credit hours to finish a second associate degree in two part-time semesters. My short term career goal is to continue where I am until I graduate and learn as much as I can from those around me. I find that the people around me at my current jobs are very intelligent and it would be wasteful of me to not learn what I can from them before I move on. My long-term career goal…

My long-range career goals are to produce research on African-American women artist as it related to gender, racism, sexism and equality, produce scholarly literature and conduct scholarly presentations, and teach on a collegial level. In addition, I plan to continue this research to include women artists of the African Diaspora living in Central and South America, Africa and Europe. These women are also excluded from the history books and the classroom. However, I only can presume their experiences of gender, sexism, racism and inequality are similar to Africa-American woman artist living in the United…

There exists this pressure on my generation that we must have our entire lives already planned out to a T. Even as a fifth grader, I remember a prompt on a state test asking “Describe your lifetime goals and how you will achieve them.” This question is asked throughout our lives in different variations but the point remains the same. What are you going to do with your life? Asking me this prompt throughout my years in high school would have given you 4 completely different answers. Just a couple months ago I would have given you a different answer than I would have now and I’m sure a similar story can be said for almost any student. Lifetime goals evolve as we mature and grow throughout life, and my high school career reflects these changes.…

My salient career goal is to become a successful computer engineer, as women are a minority in the engineering field. I chose engineering, because I love problem solving, math and building circuits on my breadboard. My goals for now are to graduate with a high GPA and to gain experience through my college journey. I tend to get better grades when I understand the material better, which is by tutoring others. Also, having work experience can be extremely helpful, as it is a whole new environment. If selected for the HLSAMP program, I would increase diversity by sharing my experiences of coming from a diverse country with others.…
