Capulet And Juliet Monologue
Do you ever feel like someone is watching you when you walk past a mirror? That's because we are always watching you. I've been hanging on the wall at the Capulet house for more than 15 years. In those years, I watched our young Juliet grow up into a fine woman, several servants come and go, and so many interested parties take place in this home like the one last night. I've seen enemies enter, revenge be sworn, and a forbidden love blossom. Capulet’s party last night was interesting to say the least, and being a mirror on the wall give me a chance to see and hear everything…….
I remember what happened last night so clearly. There is a dazzling chandelier at the center of the room about 50 feet up. It blinds me as I gaze upon Capulet atop his grand double staircase. I see

His silver mask twitches every time he speaks. He slowly descends the left side of the staircase. As he does so, he teases the ladies and tries to get everyone to dance. He comes to a halt at the bottom to converse with his cousin. My gaze drifts to two mysterious men emerge through the back door.
The taller man has striking sea blue eyes that match his blue velvet coat. This man is accompanied by a short, dull man in an unflattering mucus green coat. The blue man rambles to his friend about Capulet's daughter Juliet. I recognize his voice to be of the Montague's son Romeo! The man in green must be his sidekick Benvolio. It would appear that a man dressed in bold golden attire has also recognized the presence of Romeo Montague. He expresses his anger to Capulet, and I recognize the stubborn man to be Tybalt. Capulet calmly tells Tybalt to stay in his place. He informs Tybalt that he will allow the Montague to stay at his feast because Verona regards him highly as a gentleman. Capulet turns away to have a dance. His breeches skip past Tybalt’s knees in a swift gray river. I hear Tybalt swear under his breath a chilling vow of revenge.

This scene serves as a contrast to the preceding scene in Friar Laurence's cell. Mercutio and Benvolio are in a merry mood as they walk along talking and laughing about Romeo whom they think is still pining away over Rosaline. Benvolio mentions that Tybalt has sent a challenge to Romeo. Mercutio then gives a long description of Tybalt's eagerness to fight. Romeo comes along in a good mood after his talk with Friar Laurence. They engage in a series of puns matching their wits against each other. Along comes Juliet's nurse and Peter (her servant).…

Luhrmann has created different impressions of the families by distinguishing their reactions in situations. This image is a sinister portrayal of evil and sin. Luhrmann uses a close up shot on the Capulets to suggest the seriousness and control that the Capulets obtain. Fast framing has been deliberately used to express the Montagues panic and unawareness of how to respond. The fear of the Montagues is also portrayed by the way their voices become high and comic. Their whimpering indicates the Montagues fear of the Capulets.…

Lord and Lady Capulet came out of their chambers wearing some of their best linens. As they dismissed us to the kitchen to prepare the food, I could hear the strict talk between Lord Montague and Lord Capulet. It was the awkward talk of weather, and market trade. Sadly, I didn’t see their faces as we walked into the kitchen.…

At the start of Act 3 Scene 5, Juliet has just, unknowingly, said her final words to Romeo and had a premonition of his untimely death, something that later comes true when Juliet awakes from her drug induced slumber to find Romeo lying dead on the floor of the Capulet tomb. It is at this moment the Nurse informs Juliet that her mother is coming to her chambers. When her mother arrives, she finds Juliet in tears. However, instead of showing kindness towards her, she places a death threat on Romeo… believing Juliet’s tears to be sadness over the death of Tybalt and anger towards Romeo for killing him. However, this just adds to the distress Juliet is under. It is then Lady Capulet makes an announcement that, to Juliet, is the worst possible thing that could happen. She tells her that ‘’the gallant, young and noble gentleman, the county Paris, at Saint Peter’s church will happily make thee there a joyful bride” Here Lady Capulet is expecting a positive response, believing that this marriage will truly bring here out of her grief. So, the response she receives from Juliet would have been shocking, not only to Lady Capulet but to the contemporary audience… as it was expected at the time, that girls would do as their fathers told them and not dream of disobedience. The main emotion Juliet expresses in her response to her mother is anger. This very sudden, strong expression of her feelings on this matter has emerged due to this hasty marriage proposal being placed upon her already fired up emotions. Juliet is only a young girl, 13 years old and yet she is having to try and cope with problems/emotions that many of us will likely never have to face. It is the way Shakespeare portrays this that gains the sympathy of the modern audience and even partly the contemporary audience. Now although Juliet’s anger does show her youthfulness, it is quite clear to the audience she is not innocent little girl that her parents believe her to be. Juliet’s complete response to her mother…

This male domination is shown in the play through Lord Capulet's relationships between his wife, daughter and other members of his family. This patriarchal domination makes him very powerful and makes other characters in the play weaker by comparison. This power is very important in determining the outcome of the play. The portrayal of Lord Capulet's character, shows him as one who has the power to tell others what to do as well as having complete power over his household and what happens in his household. He expects his wife (Lady Capulet), daughter (Juliet) and his servants to do exactly as he tells them.…

The main similarity between Lady Capulet and Capulet’s conversation is that it focuses on Juliet’s union (marriage) to Paris. For example “Younger than she are happy mothers made” (I.ii.12). This quote demonstrates that there are woman that are younger than Juliet and have children. Paris is trying to convince Capulet so he can arrange their marriage. Lady Capulet says “Marry, that ‘marry’ is the very theme I came to talk of” (I.iii.68). This demonstrates that Lady Capulet wants to talk to Juliet about her marriage to Paris. A difference between their conversations is that Lady Capulet ‘forces’ Juliet to marry Paris, while Capulet lets Juliet decides if she wants to marry Paris. For instance, “My will to her consent is but a part” (I.ii.17).…

The character of Lord Capulet is dynamic because he changes from happy to angry to regretful. Lord Capulet is happy because Paris, the prince’s kinsman, wants to marry his daughter Juliet. At first, he tells Paris to wait two years “My will to her consent is but a part” (Rom. 1.2.17). Lord Capulet becomes impulsive, removing the two year waiting period. When Juliet is supposedly grieving Tybalt, Lord Capulet moves the wedding to Thursday. Then moves it to Wednesday! Lord Capulet’s impulsive behaviors continue and result in anger. When Juliet tells him that she does not want to marry Paris, he gets very angry and even threatens to disown Juliet “Hang thee, young baggage! Disobedient wretch! I tell thee what-get thee to church a Thursday…

I took the job with the Capulets because of my own daughter Susan. I needed to look after my own daughter, so some might say I was desperate. Unfortunately she passed away and is with God now, my little Susan was too good for me. And now for Juliet, hey always got on but she was too good for me. I kept on looking after Juliet because I still needed to look after myself and because Juliet became like a daughter to me. I didn’t want to lose a second daughter. When Juliet asked me to go and see Romeo, I agreed so she would be happy. I would do anything for my Juliet, she meant the world to me, and she was my daughter. Although we are not bound by blood, I care for Juliet as if she was my own; I know that Juliet thinks of me as her mother at least more that Lady Capulet. Some may beg to differ that without being bound by blood I am not her mother but my love for Juliet is like for Susan. Love is what makes real family. I knew he had asked her to marry her because she told me as soon as it had happened, but I didn't realize that the wedding would be so soon. But my Juliet’s happiness is all that matters to me, but I knew the Capulets would be furious if they found out I was helping the star-struck couple. When I got back from seeing Romeo, she had obviously been up waiting for me to tell her when and where the wedding would be. I didn't tell her to go back to bed like I normally do because I knew she would get frustrated but I did keep her hanging on because I knew that she would be more grateful to me. When at last I did tell her, she was very happy. 'Hie to high fortune! Honest Nurse farewell', I think were her exact words. When I found Juliet's 'dead' body, I felt like my whole life had fallen to pieces around me because her and Susan were my life. I hurt my poor Juliet, I did not believe her love was true, I recall saying will we were bickering, “Then, since the case so stands as now it doth,
I think it best you married with the county.

The Capulet house shape like a huge Indian tent with a balcony, which looked like a bathing tub with fresh spring water with red roses and shining apples. The color blue of house reflected on Juliet's gorgeous eyes. The texture of the house showed me likes and dislikes of the Capulet' because it had angels with bow and arrows striking at a broken heart. The windows tinted with green little cubes looked like eyes that were watching me and telling me don't dare touch my daughter. But I tried to concentrate on the beauty of Juliet and the rhyming of her words describing how she felt about…
