Capitalism In 16th Century Essay
During the time of the high middle ages, sixteenth century, commercial capitalism had majorly taken on a role. Three crucial areas had really picked up on this idea, the Mediterranean in the south, the Low Countries and the Baltic region in the north, and central Europe. The economy had become more independent, private production for their own profit, known as a commercial capitalist economy. People started construct their own businesses. This was a very self-governing time and not fully taken over or run by the government. The churches had fairs where they traded goods to raise money for the churches. Merchants usually kept track of the trade, while craftsmen included things such as painters, carpenters, weavers, and dyers. For example, trade guilds were a sizable thing around this time. Around age ten they would become master craftsmen, they were not paid to do this but received free room and board. Five to seven years later they became journey men. At the end of this time they were to create a piece of craft and this determined is they were qualified to become a member of the guild. Another idea of a guild would be a craft guild. They were in charge and regulated the crafts. They decided which prices things should be sold at and set standards for others. Guilds are almost what we consider occupations now. Only then the guild the person would want to choose would have to be chosen early because some of them started at age ten. Now, we go through schooling. Then go to college to learn about our occupation. We get this idea from then when they went through different stages to become involved in a guild.
