Can Technology Save Soldier Live in Iraq Case Study
There once lived a chief's daughter who had many relations. All the young men in the village wanted to have her for wife, and were all eager to fill her skin bucket when she went to the brook for water. There was a young man in the village who was industrious and a good hunter; but he was poor and of a mean family. He loved the maiden and when she went for water, he threw his robe over her head while he whispered in her ear:"Be my wife. I have little but I am young and strong. I will treat you well, for I love you." For a long time the maiden did not answer, but one day she whispered back. "Yes, you may ask my father's leave to marry me. But first you must do something noble. I belong to a great family and have many relations. You must go on a war party and bring back the scalp of an enemy." | | The young man answered modestly, "I will try to do as you bid me. I am only a hunter, not a warrior. Whether I shall be brave or not I do not know. But I will try to take a scalp for your sake." So he made a war party of seven, himself and six other young men. They wandered through the enemy's country, hoping to get a chance to strike a blow. But none came, for they found no one of the enemy. "Our medicine is unfavorable," said their leader at last. "We shall have to return home."Before they started they sat down to smoke and rest beside a beautiful lake at the foot of a green knoll that rose from its shore. The knoll was covered with green grass and somehow as they looked at it they had a feeling that there was something about it that was mysterious or uncanny. But there was a young man in the party named the jester, for he was venturesome and full of fun. Gazing at the knoll he said: "Let's run and jump on its top." "No," said the young lover, "it looks mysterious. Sit still and finish your smoke.""Oh, come on, who's afraid," said the jester, laughing. "Come on you--come on!" and springing to his feet he ran up the side of the knoll. Four of the young men followed.

English households were deeply rooted with the notion of marriage. Further they saw it just to give all control to the husband. This was done while the wives “tended house” and served as the housewife. Indian women and men were not as cemented into the idea that they must marry. Their lives are shown to be a strange bundle of rights and responsibilities, co-residency and kinship. The differences in opinion and views on the two different households are explained with the story of Maria, the unwed pregnant Indian servant who gave birth and supposedly threw the infant to the hogs to die.…

The cold harsh winds of the winter whistled through the ranch. Nothing moved, the grounds lay bare the only sign of life was an illuminated window on the far side of the silent ranch. The light came from a small wooden shack; the shack appeared newer than the rest of the weather worn buildings, it also looked better cared for than the other buildings. Next to the shack was a small garden and in it were gravestones. Two were lined side by side, but another sat lonely in the corner of the garden. The lonely gravestone was simple it was made from wood unlike the other two that had been carefully crafted out of stone. Then a creak echoed around the garden and the shack, it was no louder than a whisper but in a place where nothing made a single noise it seemed loud. The door of the shack rolled open, a small elderly man appeared holding a tattered leather bag. He slung it over his shoulder, he took a step outside, and he shivered as a gust of chilling wind passed over him. He looked back into the shack, deciding whether to put a coat on. He briskly emerged from the shack once more still with no coat or gloves or any added clothing but a gun. He took the gun and carefully wrapped it in a piece of cloth he had taken from his trouser pocket. He then lowered his wrinkled hand which clutched the gun back into his pocket. He limped badly stopping and wincing in pain. He soldiered on still clutching the gun in his pocket. He reached the entrance to the garden; he limped through the battered wooden gate, as he passed it let out a loud screech. The elderly man quickly scanned around him looking whether his carelessness had aroused any one from their business. He waited a while then let out a sigh of relief as no one had appeared from there bunkhouse.…

The quality of life of the single soldiers in the Army is at an all time high. Never before has there been such an effort to increase the quality of life as we have had in the last few years. From 1998-1999 the army spent nearly $600 million in new barracks construction or renovations to older barracks, building 30,000 1 + 1 spaces for junior enlisted. The command here at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center has also tried to keep the permanent party soldiers in a 1 + 1 style of living even though current events have forced some changes. Today we are finding fewer places that still have 4 per room or a common latrine for the floor. We have kitchens, laundry rooms with easy access, and a decent day room. And while they are not always up to a standard we expect, it's only because the soldiers that use them fail to keep them clean or take care of the equipment in them.…

Once upon a time, a little child named Knil was walking through the forest looking for his sword. As he was searching, he said to himself, "I think I will retrace my steps to find my sword." So Knil set off to his tree house in the Irikok Forest. Once he got there, he said, "Ok, now all I have to do is start from the beginning of the day." Knil started off by getting up from his bed and going to his bathroom to where he washed up. No sword. Next, he went to his friend Airas's house and asked her if she had seen his sword. Still no sword. Knil was starting to get fed up. Then he realized that he had gone to Eluryh to pick up some food earlier in the day. So he set out on the path to Eluryh, checking all the bushes to where his sword could have fallen. But no swords were to be found. Knil made it to Eluryh and asked all the townsfolk if they had seen his sword, but they did not. One man said, "Knil, I do remember you walking out of town with it." Knil replied, "Thank you." Knil realized he was getting closer to finding his sword. He walked down the path back to the Irikok Forest, checking again for his missing sword. When he got back, he searched far and wide for his beloved sword, but he still could not find it, so then Knil went to the Great Uked Tree and asked him, "Oh Uked Tree, can you tell me if you have seen my sword." The Great Uked Tree replied, "Knil, sad to say I have not seen your sword anywhere. You should go home, it is getting late." Sadly, Knil went back to his tree house and got ready to go to bed. He got his pajamas from under his bed. When he pulled them out and, to his amazement, his sword was clinging to it. Knil felt very stupid, he had spent the entire day searching for something that was right under his nose. The moral of the story is that you should keep track of your…
