C-ASIST Analysis
Many people have never heard of C-ASIST and are always amazed to hear what they do for the community. I now have an ‘elevator speech’ prepared for when people ask what it is. I always say “C-ASIST, is a non-profit organization that offers a free health clinic once a month to help the underinsured and the uninsured.” People don't know how it works and how the founders are able to run a free clinic, but I explain to them that it is all volunteer based so they do not have to pay anyone that works at it. I also explain that the founder and president, Nancy Berry, works very hard with her team to get all the funding and grants they can to help run the clinic.

There are four steps described in the article about the layers of strategy. There was; (1) define the problem, the solution and the party that has the power to change that; (2) identify how to reach them with media; (3) determine what to say to them; (4) and find a way to attract media attention (Dorfman & Krasnow, 2014).

C-ASIST is making a difference in our community in a way that no one else has before. They are helping hundreds, maybe a thousand(s) people a year. But, they also want to help more. There are multiple places they could go and advertise at to gain more attention, but at college campuses they will get patients, the students families as patients and

They have seven programs that simultaneously educate the community about the hunger problem in Georgia, and they also make sure that people throughout Atlanta are being fed. These seven programs include Atlanta Prosperity Campaign, Atlanta’s Table, Community Gardens, Hunger 101, Hunger Walk/Run, Kids In Need and Product Rescue Center. I had the opportunity to participate in two of their programs, which were the Hunger 101 program and the Product Rescue Center. I was first introduced to this organization by volunteering for their Hunger 101 program. This program was very enlightening, and it inspired me to make a difference in my community. This program entailed an interactive group session that educated the volunteers about the hunger problem in Georgia. The volunteers participated in a workshop where we were given the role of being a less fortunate person for a day. We were given this person’s income, how many people lived their house, and all the expenses that they had to pay for. We had to use those values to calculate how much money that person has to spend on food per day. I discovered that most of these people had no more than three dollars to spend on food for their whole family in one day.…

Throughout my life, I have dedicated myself to act selflessly and always attempt to best represent my community. The Larner COM commitment to service aligns with my philanthropic views of healthcare. In my experience volunteering at a local homeless clinic, we ask each patient: “If you could not have come here, where would you have gone?” Many patients’ answer is nowhere. The involvement that students maintain in the local Community Health Center of Burlington provides an opportunity to work with populations similar to those I have assist in Colorado.…

Initially it was stated that a family of four would see a cut in their premiums by up to $2,500 a year. However, that it not what has happened. The author reports that according to the Kaiser figures, in “2011 premiums increased by 9% in 2011. In 2012, the numbers showed a 5% decrease and in 2013 there was a 4% decrease” indicating that changes are being made at a much slower pace than expected. Experts observing the newly reformed policy believe that the reason for the premiums not decreasing as quickly as originally thought is due to the slow recovery of the economy. This article gives further credence to the above-stated article regarding the price of insurance premiums under…

Table 1 was information found when the CTSIP asked people from different income groups whether they had health care coverage. As income increases, the likelihood of not having health care coverage decreases. Those with an income of $15,000 or less had a percentage of 29.7% reporting no health care coverage. It is slightly higher than this for the $15,000 to $25,000 range (29.9%), and slightly higher still in the $25,000 to $35,000 range (32%). Then there is a sudden drop to 18.2% for those with an income of $35,000 to $55,000. From there, the percentages decrease further. The next table represents several reasons for not having health care and the percentages of those responses. The response given the most for not having health care coverage was because they could not afford it, with a percentage of approximately 32%. This information most likely represents the responses of those with the lowest income level. Other reasons include claims that the person is healthy enough to not need it, their employer not offering coverage, being self-employed and the cost being…
