Business Case Study: Asustek Computer Inc.
AsusTek Computer Inc. commonly known as ASUS is a Taiwanese multinational company which is selling computer and phone hardware and electronics products. The name “ASUS” comes from a Greek mythology word, Pegasus which is a winged horse that represents wisdom and knowledge. The name was shortened to "ASUS" in order to appear at the beginning of the sequence corresponding alphabet and objectify the strength to soar to new heights with each new product it creates.
ASUS was established in Taipei, Taiwan in 1989 by T.H. Tung, Ted Hsu, Wayne Hsieh and M.T. Liao, four computer engineers who intend to extend Taiwan’s IT industry. At the beginning, ASUS was still a small company and did not have the priority to receive new processors from Intel Corporation.

It also operates subsidiary offices in China, Asia, Australia and around 50 service sites across 32 countries and has over 400 service partners worldwide.When ASUS started its life as a motherboard manufacturer with just worked in a small apartment in Taipei, the company was composed of a handful of employees. However, the multinational company now with over 12,500 employees worldwide and a top-class R&D team of 3,100 engineers. The ASUS company’s revenue for 2015 was around NT$472.4billion. Due to the main concept of the name of Eee PC, ASUS decided to expand its new market to the second stage by introducing this product to the customers’ study, work and entertainment area and explore a new market of the office worker and student directly.
