To begin, Burmese pythons don’t have many predators. As a result, the pythons have been killing large numbers of opossums, raccoons, bobcats, and bird species. In the newspaper article “Florida’s Python Hunt” the text states in paragraph one, “With no natural predators, these eating machines appear to be wiping out huge numbers of opossums, raccoons, and bobcats, as well as many bird species.” Basically, there are giant monsters killing everything on the menu! Pythons are vicious snakes that can afflict great damage to the food chain.

People have been setting Burmese pythons loose for years. In the blog “Burmese Pythons: The Ecosystem challenge” the author states in paragraph three, “And, when pythons got too big, the owners got rid of them in the most irresponsible fashion: They just let them go into the Everglades or some other wild area.” This led to the tens of thousands of pythons in the Everglades. As a result, humans are now trying to fix it. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commision has created the Python Challenge. The advertisement “Python Challenge” states, “Sign up for the competition to harvest the most Burmese pythons or the longest one to win up to $1,500.” The goal is to rid as many pythons as possible from the Everglades.
