According to the stopbulling.org website, the involvement of bullying meaning both the victim and the bully, can increase the chance of them to engage into suicide- related behaviors. Also, teens who report any type of suicidal issue dealing with bullying are likely to report their issues, but the other half of people who don’t speak up are more willing to commit suicide. The people that don’t speak up are more likely to fall into depression and the ending result of this is committing suicide. In Jay Asher’s novel, “Thirteen Reasons Why”, Hannah was overwhelmed by the rumors, bullying, lies, and was just tired of always fighting back. It all started with Hannah having rumors all around her school since her freshman year for having, “ The Best A** in the Freshman Class.” Then, she was stalked in her room, having any privacy, which led to another person trying to touch her in places below. She was also talked about for kissing someone and the whole school knew about, and she also witnessed her friend being raped. Hannah was also touched at the pool in the final chapters of the scenes. At the time she wanted to fight back and refuse, but she just let it happened which came to her last straw of just dealing with everything and fighting back. She tried to seek help, but the counselor didn’t try to help her out, so she knew exactly what to do and just end everything. Hannah fell into a deep depression and reach her breaking point and just figured everything needed to be stopped and there was no way out.
