Build a Computer Network

What is a computer?
A computer is any device capable of performing computations which include an Abacus, but this is too simple to describe modern day computers. Modern day computers are electronic devices that carry out both arithmetic and logic operations at extremely high speeds. This device consists of input, processing, storage, output, hardware, software. The computer uses silicon-based semi-conductor technologies and a collection of storage, processing, presentation and user interface components to produce inputs and outputs in a format that users can interpret. It manipulates information and data, retrieves and process data, allows user to type documents, send e-mails, create spread sheets, create and manage databases, create graphic presentations, and is also used for leisure. The computer is able to perform these entire tasks by following a set of instructions called software. What are the main types of computers used in a network?

The main types of computers used in a network are:
* Desktop Computer or PC
* Laptop PC
* Super computer
* mainframe
* workstation
* microcomputer or personal computer
* tablet PC
* palmtop/ handheld
* server
* Mobile computer

What is a Network?
A network is a collection of computers and other hardware components interconnected by communication channels that allow sharing of resources and information. Networks may be classified according to a wide variety of characteristics, such as the medium used to transport the data, communications protocol used, scale, topology, and organizational scope. Communications protocols define the rules and data formats for exchanging information in a computer network. Computer networking is sometimes considered a sub-discipline of electrical engineering, telecommunications, computer science, information technology or computer engineering. Local Area Network

A Local Area Network or LAN is a network that is confined to a relatively small area. It is generally limited to a geographic area such as a writing lab, school, or building. Wide Area Network
Wide Area Networks or WANs connect networks in larger geographic areas, such as Florida, the United States, or the world. Dedicated transoceanic cabling or satellite uplinks may be used to connect this type of global network.

Describe some hardware and software you can find on a computer network. Hardware found in a computer network:
* A Monitor is an output device also known as the visual display unit (VDU) in which a narrow stream of electrons is projected on to the screen using cathode-ray tube (CRT) which is used to display the soft copy of data

* A Mouse is an input device used to control the movement of the cursor. The mouse aids in the manipulation of data and objects. Mouse in modern day time consists of three to five buttons. These are the left button, the right button, the middle button. The left side button and the right side button.

* A Printer is an output device that accepts text and graphic output from a computer and transfers the info unto paper.

* A Scanner is an input device used to capture data provide, images from photographic prints, posters, magazine pages, and similar sources for computer editing which are then projected on the screen. Whatever the scanner has...
