Brimfield Route 20 Highway Project Case Study
Thank you for your recent letter following up on the testimony you gave at February’s Brimfield Route 20 Highway Project Public Information.

The project will include centerline rumble strips, reflectorized pavement markers,

Driving is inherently dangerous, especially when sharing the road with semi trucks. While you can mitigate this danger by increasing your following distance behind these big rigs, passing one on a multilane road forces you to drive within a few feet of it. Likewise, only a few feet separate you from oncoming trucks on a two lane road. Because you can't entirely avoid these situations, you have to trust that the truck doesn't lose control or otherwise harm you.…

Road construction and operation often cause the topography, vegetation, runoff and micro-climate characteristics to significantly change, resulting in interference to wildlife, forcing original living habits and activity patterns to change. For example, traffic noise affects the communicating, living and breeding activity of birds. All of these stories use physical death as a way to expose an internal death caused by a character’s experience with the Freudian concept of denial.…
