Botox Essay
Introduction

Hello Everyone. When you hear the word Botox, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? Is it celebrities, people who want to look younger or maybe you just don’t care. Personally for me, when I heard the word Botox before I did my research for this informative speech, I thought of Kim Kardashian or Joan Rivers. But, Botox is more than just social media hype. Botox is a neurotoxin protein called botulinum toxin, that can be used medically to treat certain types of muscular conditions, and cosmetically to remove wrinkles temporarily by paralyzing facial muscles. You may think that Botox used for cosmetic purposes is just for females trying to look younger, but studies have shown that the number of American men getting Botox injections has skyrocketed 258 percent over the past decade or so. Now that you understand what Botox can be used for and that it’s for all genders, I will be answering these three questions: What are the positive effects of medical and cosmetic Botox? Steroid injections can be a temporary treatment for pain associated with carpal tunnel syndrome. Physicians only prescribe steroid injections as a hold over while other treatment options are being identified. In most patients who require these injections, the only permanent relief is surgery to the wrist.[9] This surgery cuts the flexor retinaculum so that it no longer presses on the median nerve. The success rate of this surgery is quite high. A study revealed that up to 90% of patients receiving this surgery were able to return to their same jobs.[2] Recurrence of carpal tunnel syndrome after surgery is very rare. The majority of patients completely recover.…

Patients suffering from facial palsy are confronted with functional and aesthetic deficits of deficient facial function. Cross-face nerve grafts are used in cases of facial reanimation surgery to guide axons from a healthy donor branch of the facial nerve to the affected side of the face. Long sural nerve grafts are used as cross-face nerve grafts, reaching lengths of 20 to 30 cm in the clinical situation. Regeneration times for axonal outgrowth to the distal end of the grafts take several months. Cross-face nerve grafts undergo changes associated with chronic denervation during this time period. Functional outcomes after cross-face nerve grafts are sometimes insufficient to power a free muscle transplant and to result in significant facial…

You may notice these signs if your horse has equine recurrent uveitis if your horse is squinting or holding the affected eye shut in response to pain and sensitivity to light. There may also be excessive tearing, and a closer look at the eye may reveal a bluish or cloudy appearance to the cornea, the white portion of the eye may look bloodshot, and the pupil may be smaller than normal. The damage to the eye is progressive, even with prompt and aggressive treatment. Scarring can develop within the eye, cataracts, glaucoma, chronic pain, and some will ultimately become blind. Unfortunately there is no cure for equine recurrent uveitis. Therefore, the recommended treatment for active episodes of uveitis is aimed at decreasing the inflammation within the eye, controlling the horse's pain, minimizing the damage to the structures of the eye, and delaying the onset of blindness. Each horse and situation is unique, but treatment includes a combination of topical and systemic anti-inflammatories, steroids, and immunosuppressive…
