For this experiment petri-dish A is fully exposed to the light source while petri-dish B is partially exposed to the light.

Independent Variable:
We have chosen our independent variable to be the amount of light exposed to the cress seeds. Our first petri-dish was allowed to be fully exposed to the light surrounding it, while the second was fully wrapped in black paper excluding a 0.5cm slit directed towards the sun.

Dependent Variable:
Our dependent variable is the reaction/actions to the given conditions, for example the growth of the different cress seeds, the direction of growth or if it grows at all.

Controlled Variable:
To keep the test fair we will control the variables by measuring each variable out. Our controlled variables are:
Number of cress seeds in each petri dish (15 each)
Water absorbed by cotton wool (10ml)
The location of the petri-dishes are at the same level and are both the same distance from the window. – this keeps the light source, the temperature and the supply of CO2 and O2 exposed to the plant the same.
The room temperature fluctuates, but both plants experience the same temperatures making the test fair.
The windows are kept closed because glass absorbs some of the UV light rays
Size of cotton sheet used (10cmx10cm)
Same water source used therefore no impurities
Same type of cotton from same source
Same type of plant (Cress seeds)

Method:
1) Measure out the cotton and place inside both petri-dishes
2) Pour 10ml of distilled water into each petri-dish
3) Place seeds in at even distances from each other leaving enough space for them to grow
4) Take the second petri-dish and cover it completely with black paper and cut a single 0.5cm thick slit through the paper
5) Place the petri-dish on a flat surface equidistant to the light source
6) Leave the project for a week and water crest seeds daily (10ml a day)
7) Write up observations of plant growth throughout the week and compare results

Prediction:
I

    2. Five variables that should be controlled during the experiment is the amount of sunlight, room temperature, amount of water, the time of day the plant is watered and the certain type of plant. To make sure the plants get the same amount of sunlight, make sure to put them both in the same spot so that one plant doesn’t get more sunlight than the other. To make sure they both stay in the same room temperature, put them both in the same room. With the amount of water come up with a measurement, and then make sure you give both plants that amount. Pick out a time of day for the plants to get watered make sure you water one earlier than the other since it is part of your hypothesis that they grow faster when watered in the morning. Finally, make sure that…

The dependent variable is the Brassica Rapa and it is depending on the temperature. Before the experiment took place, all plants were in 22 degrees Celsius for three weeks to grow to the preferred maturity. They were then taken out and pollinated. After pollination the plants were set in separate temperatures to mature for another two weeks. After the two weeks were over, the plants were taken out of their temperatures and soil to determine maturity and productivity. To do so, the plants were weighed, the length was measured, the pods were counted, and the amounts of mature seeds were counted as…

This experiment was conducted by taking 6 pots containing soil and placing certain amount of seeds, radish or/and wheat seeds, in each pot. A total of 384 seeds were needed for this experiment; 192 for radish and 192 for wheat seeds. The first three sets of pots had a total of 32 seeds in each pot consisting of radish or/and wheat seeds, which represented the low density and the other three sets of pots had a total of 96 seeds in…

A total of four petri dishes were removed in the dark, using only a green safelight. They were then labeled with the variety of seed, group name or initials, the date, and the light treatment. Filter paper was added to each pert dish and then 2-3 dropperfuls of water were added to each plate so that the filter paper was very moist for germination. Then 25 lettuce seeds were placed into each dish. The light regimens were White, Red, Far-Red, and Darkness. Each dish was exposed to their labeled light regimen for 10 minutes. They were kept level and wrapped in foil immediately after exposure. After 48 hours, the seeds were revisited and the total number of seeds germinated in each dish was determined, then figured into a percentage. All the information was gathered together and put into…

The petri dishes when combined formed a make-shift reservoir for the planaria. We then filled both petri dishes with 25 ml of water and covered the outsides of each petri dish with a white paper and a black paper. We then placed the planaria on the white side and waited 5 minutes. When the 5 minutes were up we counted how many planaria were on the white side and the dark side, then we put the data found in a table. We then repeated this process two more times to get more accurate readings. Our constants in this experiment were, 5 minutes per trial, planaria were placed in the middle of the white section, petri dishes, colored paper, elevation of petri dishes, room temperature, and same type and amount of water. To see if our hypothesis was valid…
