From the result, we can see that the leaf of Rhoeo discolor (horizontal monocot) and that of the typical dicot (horizontal dicot) both have higher stomatal density in lower epidermis while the difference between lower and upper epidermis is more in the typical dicot.
Secondly,the leaf of Acacia confusa (vertical dicot) has a higher stomatal density in lower epidermis while the difference between lower and upper epidermis is large. lastly, the leaf of grass (vertical monocot) has a higher stomatal density in lower epidermis while the difference between lower and upper epidermis is really small. All of the leaves of plants investigated have a higher stomatal density on the lower epidermis.
As they are held horizontally and even if the leaves orientated vertically may tend to be held horizontally over time due to gravity, and the upper epidermis is directly illuminated by the sun, the temperature of the upper epidermis is higher than that of the lower epidermis. Few of no stomata on the upper epidermis helps reduce water loss due to transpiration. While the higher stomatal density on the lower epidermis is to ensure efficient gas exchange since the stomata engage in gas exchange. Concerning the reliability and accuracy, there were two sets of replicates including the different person counting the number of stomata and different area observed while random sampling was carried out on the area under the field of view, ensuring the reliability of the experiment. Moreover, care had been taken to ensure accuracy. Numbers of stomata counted by my partner and I were close and thus, double counting and the close result have ensured and proved the accuracy. Besides, comparing our data with the other group, Moving on to the possible sources of error.
