Biblical Values Are Diminishing In The United States
“There is nothing new under the sun.” People often talk about how Biblical values are diminishing in the everyday life of modern times. What I think they miss is that, in fact, every single Biblical value is indeed diminishing... but that’s no news. We live in a fallen world and are fallen people. Things have always been so and will never get better until Christ comes back and restores everything. This world is full of murder, rape, homosexuality, abortion, premarital sex, drug and alcohol abuse, and suicide, just to name the big ones. But there have always been such things. They just stayed better hidden back in the day. These things seem so much more prevalent now, however, because of how fast communication is and all the technology we have at our …show more content…
People argue that the reason America is the way it is today is because we have forgotten God and have taken Him out of our public schools and “yadda, yadda, yadda.” But consider how the people of Israel, God's CHOSEN people, continually left Him. He would show them unbelievably amazing miracles and then they would go worship a gold cow they had just made. When people ask why Biblical values are diminishing, the very question itself is invalid. People don't change. Yes, Christians should not just accept sin, but continually purge themselves of it with the grace of the Holy Spirit. Yes, Christians should continually pray without ceasing for our nation and its people that they would repent and turn to God. Yes, prayer and Bible reading shouldn't have been taken out of schools and should be used in public schools today. Yes, God promises us that if we cry out to Him and repent that He will bless our nation. And He has. We have more freedom than any other country in the world and get the best protection in the world thanks to our military. But even democracy doesn't last. No government is or has ever been perfect. Though we love to think that our country is the best darn country that you could

The first unalienable right which is defined in The Declaration of Independence is “Life” and when nations leave God out of the equation, life is not protected. This results in dictators (e.g., Hitler, Stalin, Idi Amin, Lenin, Kim ll Jong, Pol Pot) who unleash totalitarianism (e.g., genocide, mass murder, confiscation of property and human rights). Fidel Castro died today and it is interesting that many leaders, including our POTUS, is paying homage to a totalitarian dictator who murdered over 400,000 people (McEwen, 2011). Atheists, champagne socialists, and misguided millennials want to severe America’s relationship with God. The choice that many God-fearing Americans made in our recent election demonstrates that a moral majority still exists; ergo, God heard their prayers and…

Yes, yes, yes Anita!!! This troubled world we live in idolizes materialist things and people more than worship God. You will see more people spending more time going to concerts than praying. Or even spending more money on their appearance than tithing. Luther’s reference to idolatry was truly on point. People are idolizing the “American dream” than the one who is the reason behind it all,…

The Question of Morality: The Word of God has provided Christians all that is needed to live a life that is “holy, acceptable unto God” (Romans 12:2). King David beautifully compared the Word of God as a “lamp” and as a “light” to guide Christians in this sinfully dark world (Psalm 119:105).…

In his essay „The Christian Paradox”, Bill McKibben points out the hypocrisy of how Americans perceive religiousness and Christianity. The author achieves that through comparing the teachings of the Holy Bible with incontestable data, mostly statistics. He provides a fascinating inside into the state of devotion in the United States—people of America have wandered off the path dictated by Jesus, and even deformed it for their own purposes, while still claiming their devotion to God—which makes for a powerful point in a discourse on the state of Christianity in the country with such a long history of achieving success through hard work.…

The pledge of allegiance has remained an important part of the American legacy and culture. It takes part in the American school system, in American sports, and in many other areas. Many say that the pledge holds a place in their hearts, where it allows them to show their pride for their country. But in this pledge there are two words that have a tendency ring in the ears of many Americans, “under god.” In a country that is proud of the separation of church and state, we leave these words in a pledge that is said everyday by millions of Americans who believe and trust the right of separation of church of state yet we fail to do this for a major component in American culture. The words “under god” hold little meaning and should not be placed in the pledge of allegiance, they should be removed permanently.…

We must stand for God's laws and stand up to those who seek to change or even ignore the Constitution. We must unite and make our voices heard. I'm not saying we need to demonstrate or riot in the streets. Heaven forbid! It's important to vote at every election including the local, state and national elections. We need to attend council meetings, write to our congressmen and senators, and attend school meetings. Educating our children is a step in the right direction. You've heard that it's the squeaky wheel that gets oiled. I am reminded of Paul's words, "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." (Ephesians…

Picture a gorgeous landscape of lush green, exotic flowers, and the bluest ocean you have ever seen. The sun gently warms you while you attempt to absorb the explosion of colors around you. Your'e patiently waiting on a Hawiian beach to meet with the love of your life, except your'e not alone. There are fifteen other women also patiently waiting to meet "the love of their life". This is the opening scene for My Antonio, one of the many reality t.v. shows that grace our television sets today. One might claim that this is an example of how the american morale has declined. Trying to find love on national television by having multiple prospects at one time. David Whitman writer of "America Is Not In Moral Decline" contests that the American morale is not one of a declining matter. He continues to go through a list of hand picked facts in the attempt to give his claim value and relevance. Let's take a moment to picture and compare America today with America 50 years ago.…

The first reason why I feel so strongly about this, is because we need to regain our moral standards. Since prayer was removed from schools, there has been a drastic change with society. According to David Barton, ever since prayer was removed from schools teen pregnancies have gone up 500% since 1962. The effect of the removal of prayer has not only affected that, but the number of unmarried mothers have risen dramatically. As well as the dropouts, divorce rates, and the student’s SAT scores have steadily declined. All of these results are directly related to the lack of morals. While on the other hand, Christianity teaches morals. With…

It has been said before that the United States is considered a Christian nation. Many citizens truly believe this, while other strongly oppose this belief. Contrary to what critics imply, a Christian nation is not one in which all citizens are Christians, the laws require everyone to adhere to Christian theology, or all leaders are Christians. America is a Christian nation only in the sense that the majority of its population happens to be Christian. But unfortunately, religious conservatives use this fact as an excuse to try and impose their religious beliefs and social agenda on the rest of the nation. America today is a highly diverse nation when it comes to religion. Now there are religions such as Jewish, Buddhist, Muslim, and Hindu, as well as Atheist and Agnostic. If America was essentially a Christian nation, then none of these other religions would be practiced.…

Currently our country is in moral decay because we are not raising our children under the authority of God 's Word. For example, some parents feel as though their children should not have to do chores around the house. It is our responsibility as parents to educate our children on what God 's Word says about all of life 's issues, including chores.…
