It was the first day of recruitment, Sarah and Jessica and I were going to go together. We all got ready in my room and headed over to Blum for the information night. When we got there, I had sweat pints as big as softballs and we were the first ones there. While us waiting for all the girls who were rushing to come so the meeting could start. We started talking to all the active girls, so we can get to know them all. I was so nervous to meet all of them and felt so little to them. When everyone got there, the president of recruitment started to talk to us about what the rules were for recruitment. The sorority that I really want to get into is Alpha Sigma Alpha, which was the one my mom was in when she was in college. When information night was over, we went down to Sarah’s room and we all talked about what we thought about it and that we all want to do the same sorority. Meet and greet night was the night were we get to meet all the active girls in all the sororities. The first sorority I went to was tri-sigma; it was very purple like I mean a big purple graph room. The girls were nice and excited to meet all these new girls. Even though I was nervous about all the girls; I was trying to be myself. When I came out of the room Jessica and Sarah come running up to me and saying that Alpha Sigma Alpha are stuck up and mean because they all were wearing black dress and very pretty girls. After they told me that I was really upset about since I want to be in that sorority. It was my turn to go into the alpha sigma alpha room and I got put with a girl that was so sweet and not stuck up. Her name was Sarah Guinn and she showed me around and told me all about alpha sigma alpha. I didn’t think they were stuck up at all but I really want to be in the same sorority has Jessica and Sarah because I don’t what to lose their friendships. The third night was really hard

For thousands of years, up to the 20th century, the land of Palestine was a homeland for Christians, Jews, and Muslims. In the 20th century, the British got involved in the Middle East in several ways, culminating in the attempt to make Palestine a “Homeland” for European Jews to go to. Based on the e-Activity and Roskin Chapter 8 for this week:…

However, I will address your concerns since you were keen to bring it up. The pledge process, though extremely important, is merely an initial step towards being a brother of the Sigma Chi fraternity. The constitution you acknowledged during your pledge term placed heavy emphasis on lifelong commitment, and required you to pay all dues owed to the chapter throughout your time as an undergraduate member. Since then, you’re actions have indicated the exact opposite, as you have blown off subsequent Initiation responsibilities, and have removed yourself from attending any chapter meetings or having any involvement with the business of the…

After meeting so many individuals throughout my first semester freshman year involved in Greek life, I hesitantly decided to go through recruitment. This whole process, especially the first day, I was so overwhelmed and intimidated and considered dropping it all together. I just remember walking into my first round, some girl came up out of absolutely no where and grabbed my arm and led me into the room. I may or may not have jumped when she grabbed my arm.…

It was a Thursday morning in November. I woke up, got dressed and got ready to take a taxi to 42nd Street in Manhattan with my mother. I was so upset that I had to leave to upstate somewhere I had never been and the thought of living there? Lord knows I wanted to throw up so badly. When I got to 42nd Street I saw the guy that I had an interview with. He said, “Hello Nikki. Are you excited to go to Job Corps?” I lie and said yes. When it was time to leave I said goodbye to my mother and got on the bus.…

Already discouraged, Karina De La Cruz walked aimlessly down Bruin Walk where there were sororities recruiting new girls. She combed through her hair trying to look acceptable into her new environment. As she walked by a blond sorority sister, she was judged instantly, and got handed a dirty look instead of a flier to join. Karina found it amusing and ironic how well she was accepted to a Latina sorority only moments later. Karina could only help but wonder if this additional blow to her already low ego boost was just foreshadowing her future schooling at UCLA. No matter how many odds Karina had against her, still “UCLA said YES”, and that alone provided enough determination for her to proceed on her journey as a Bruin.…

    Spirit Day Research Paper

A few years ago, I was just a freshman, who was intrigued by every aspect of my school. I was surprised to see that there is a hang out place called Senior hills, and that’s where most of the seniors hang out. There was also a specific room where most musically gifted kids hang out called the Band room. And lastly there is A quad, where kids love the color black, and could spend all day reading manga. As I wonder where I belong to in this huge melting pot, I met a group of older girls in my geometry class, Jordyn, Hannah, and Ally. Jordyn insisted that I should hang out with them, since I’m new and need guidance. They showed me to my classes, and taught me about spirit weeks and rally days. They said we should use spirit days to show school unity and look cuter than usual. One day, during lunch, when we were all dressed up as hippies in our trendy bohemian clothes chit chatting about what to wear for tomorrow spirit…

A communication event I recently attended was "rush" for a sorority. It was a series of days where I met with all the different sororities. The whole point of this is to meet many different people to decide which sorority is for you. The event is focused around communicating with people so they can get to know you and you can get to know them. If you send the wrong message about yourself you may not be invited back the next day to see the people that you would like to see again. Also if the person you talk to in the sorority sends the wrong message to you, you may not want to go back and visit that sorority again. You could not be successful with something like this if you cannot communicate properly and if you…

I was skeptical about joining a sorority, but I was surprised after I went through rush I meet my new sisters and found my home away from home. When I put a homesick post on Facebook, I had 13 sisters comment on the post or message me making sure I was fine. Being from a town where everyone was caring and loving, made me think I would never find the same support system in college, but I found it in my sorority, Alpha Gamma Delta. I still believe if I did not join AGD then I would have gone home from the lack of emotional support.…

The week in which they came to my school I decided to go up to them and ask for information about the army. My friends would never a picture me as wanting to join the army they would see me as a girly girl, a girl in which doesn’t like getting down and dirty. The moment when I decided to tell them that I wanted to join the army my friends started judging me telling me that I’m going to look like a male. Some of them would say that the only reason why I want to join the army is to date or marry an army solider. When they came to that assumption I was taken back that my own friends doesn’t see me as a female wanting to join the army just to gain the experience. I got pressure from them, reason why I should stop pursuing the army they told me that I would get kill and that I shouldn’t do it. They would also tell me the horror story about how female in the military would get sexual harass while serving, and pretty much trying to convince me to get out by every way necessary. With all their assumption it wasn’t enough to make me back out of joining, so I went up to the recruiter and got information and went home to tell my…

    Best Christmas Ever

Every year I have a great Christmas spending valuable time with family and friends. This past Christmas was the best I’ve ever had. I received the best unexpected gift ever! It all started when everyone in my family came to my house early Christmas morning for breakfast. After breakfast we started passing out gifts. First, we would usually go in a huge circle and everyone would open one gift at a time. This time was different and very odd to me. My family would let everyone open a gift and would skip me. At first, I wondered why I didn’t get my turn yet, but then, I thought to myself that something was up. After a while, my family let me open some of my gifts so that I wouldn’t suspect anything. Next, my whole family huddled up whispering to each other. I then knew that something wasn’t right which made me get a little angry. After my family’s little huddle, they handed me a card. As I read the card, I come across the words,” You will be going on a 7 day cruise to Mexico!” I stood up screaming to the top of my lungs with enjoyment. I cried happy tears because I never expected to go on a cruise especially without my parents. All of my family members rushed to me and gave me a big hug. My grandmother and I cried together in joy and sadness because she was happy for me but at the same time, she didn’t want to see her oldest grandchild leave the country without her being there with me. Over all, my family gave me some advice on what to do and what not to do while I’m on the cruise. I had a great time on the cruise and got to learn about a different culture from mines. It was a unforgettable experience and I would never forget the best Christmas…
