The best trip ever
It was March 15, 1997. The time too early to remember. What was clear however, was the fact that I was soon going to be on my own in a country where I did not know the language or the people that I would be meeting there and staying with. The adrenaline rushed through me as I packed the last of my things and ran out of the door. I closed the door to my house and jumped in the car. The idea of leaving America and going to Japan seemed to really not have hit me yet, but now that I look back I know that I had to feel it. I think that the things that I was feeling was such a blob of mixed emotions that I really did not know how to feel so I will just say that I was excited. At the airport I met my best friend and two other friends of mine from school. We would all be traveling together, most all the time. The only things that would really be different would be where we lived and who we would live with. As the flight, Northwest number 69 to Detroit was called I could hardly wait and I jumped up, not being able to wait to board. We needed to travel to Detroit to get our connection flight to Osaka, Kansai International Airport. As soon as the plane took off it landed. Detroit was a very quick flight, only about an hour. Being a little nervous about not having enough time to make our flight I urged everyone to hurry along and to try and walk fast so that we could make our connection. Little did I know to my surprise after literally storming through the airport, the flight was delayed. Well that was okay, because we had three hours to do whatever we wanted, just the four of us in the Detroit Airport. Well we shopped, and we ate lunch. After a considerable amount of time, we boarded the plane, and off to Japan we went. I think that I knew how much trouble I was in when I heard four different meals, and five movie choices come across the loud speaker. The estimated flying time from Detroit to Osaka was about thirteen and one half hours. No big deal. I love sleeping really I

Growing up in the military, I was no stranger to picking up and moving from one place to another. By the age of 6, I had already flown across the Pacific Ocean four times! I was born on Clark Air Base in the Philippines, a large group of tropical islands located in Southeast Asia in the western Pacific Ocean. After my sister was born, we were relocated to Carswell Air Force Base near Ft. Worth, Texas, which is where I spent the first two years of elementary school. From there, the military moved us back to the Philippines. Our last move, however, was both unexpected and definitely the most eventful.…

Living in San Francisco with my mother and father was all I had ever known. There were several folks from Asia at my school and I even had classes with a few of them. My father woke me up and told me to come with him to the neighbor’s house since they had a radio. The Japanese had just bombed Pearl Harbor and the world was now a different place. While the war had been active in Europe for some time it seemed so far away and our lives were unaffected by the battles described in the newspaper and on the radio.…

When my parents first told me about this, I was not sure what Canada was. I thought that Canada was the name of an amusement park or an elementary school. It was only when I was brought to the airport that I started to realise that Canada would not be in China. When we got to the airport I cried from the moment we left the taxi to the moment the plane landed in Canada. Even after we landed, I was crying. I cried the day that we landed and for the week after as well because I was scared. I was frightened. This was a big change from what I had gotten used to for the first six years of my life and it seemed like I was reborn. I cried because I had no other way to express myself. I had no friends, no relatives and no home in Canada. I had just me and my parents. I begged my parents for days on end in the first month when we arrived to please go back to China. But they were adamant about their stance and we eventually settled down, not long after, to where we now…

November 17, 2015 was one of the most memorable days in my life. After eleven long years I was finally going to see my family in New Orleans. My cousin, Mykeasha, and I had to fly all the way from California to Louisiana. Since we had to board the plane in LA(Los Angeles) my mother-in-law decided that she would take us. When we arrived to the airport to leave California, I started to feel a little home sick. ''Maybe it's my nerves,"I thought.'' I know once I board that plane and we take off there was no turning back.'' We proceeded to Bag Checking to check our bags in, the lines moved very quickly and after that we relax until it was time to leave. It started to seem real and I knew that in a few hours we will no longer be in California. When…

FINALLY it was the day the day to go to California. The filet was about an hour and a half and but I was ready. Before I went to the airport I packed in a backpack a sketch book, colored pencils, an art pen, etd so I wouldn't get bored. I also brought a slinky (remember this it will be important). I got on the plane before a lot of people because I was an unaccompanied minor (people with disabilities went on first). I got on the plane and I sat with two other unaccompanied…

It was June 13, 1995. I was in El Paso TX, boarding a plane, with a one way ticket to San Diego CA. I knew once I boarded that plane my life would never be the same. All I had in my possession was the clothes on my back, my wallet, and cigarettes and a liter. I was a scared 18 year old but an extremely excited one also. I knew I was leaving all my friends, family, and loved ones as a young immature teenager but would return with more maturity and a brighter future. As the flight began its taxi down the runway I was thinking to myself, am I doing the right thing or should I have chosen a different path for my life. I spent the entire flight trying to rest and relax but my anxiety would shoot through the roof and then I would calm myself with the idea of earning the Title.…

My internal organs thumped against my chest as I dragged my bag along the floor and into the corridor. As I walked into the hall, I glanced up and notice the sign I could get on. My entire body could barely hold itself together with the anticipation of the dream come-true event about to take place. I said to myself, “I’ll soon be in the air alone without my family”. I slowed my pace to further enjoy what was happening. Swarms of people walked around me knowing that one of my lifetime goals is now going to happen. The excitement and adrenaline running through my veins could have killed a horse. Not being able to stand such self-torture, I hurried my pace until I had unfortunately caught up with something not so pleasing, a group of old people who were walking before me. I whined in annoyance because of my instigated feeling. After waiting for an hour, the crew soon became visible to assist us walk into the plane. I felt butterflies in my belly and could not even stop grinning. As I entered the plane, I saw all the people sitting comfortably until I noticed there were some unoccupied seats. I smiled and walked towards it. I asked the flight attendant if I could sit there alone. And to her approval, I left the seat that was indicated on my plane ticket then sat on the ones I desired. While sitting beside the window, I imagined myself flying in my own plane with maids and a butler. After being so ambitious for a minute or two, one of the flight attendants walked from the back of the plane, pushing a cart full of drinks and potato chips. After asking me what I like, I bought a can of cola and a bag of Doritos then I took my IPod and earphones out of my purse. I munched on my goodies and at the same time listened to some Korean songs as we continued flying to Manila. After an hour of sitting in the plane, it was about to time to land. I took my pressed powder, liquid eyeliner, and my ice pink lipstick out and started giving myself a lovely…
