Before You Were Born
I am going to talk about how my family got over here from Ireland. Stuff for about my great grandparents. I am going to talk about some stories that my grandpa told me about his dad and my dad. My three topics I like because you get to know stuff about my family
My family came over from Ireland because there was a drought. They came over on a boat. They settled in Nebraska where they stared to farm. They came on their own. How we got to south Dakota was because of my great grandpa and his brothers moved the ranch to south Dakota because the grass was greener.
Here are some stories that my grandpa told. One day before I was born he was helping his dad work on the backhoe and his dad fell so my grandpa was only like 12

My name is Matthew, and my story actually begins with the Homestead Act of 1862. When the young American nation was beginning to stretch its legs, land was being given away to families who were willing to farm it. My maternal grandparents, suffering from the devastating famine in Ireland, saw this is as a huge opportunity for their families, so they gambled everything on hope and headed for new opportunities in America with a group of other immigrants. But life in America would not be as easy as they had…

There is something about youth that has always encapsulated those grown out of it. The human race puts it on a pedestal after it has been spent, and it becomes a last wish, something to laugh about in past tense. They will laugh and say how teenagers often feel as though they are invincible, that we are wild and insane because we think we cannot be harmed. But it is so much more than just a feeling. In the seconds between laughs and the embers of a glittering bonfire and the bite of a bone-chilling wind, we are invincible. We still may bleed, but it will be golden. We still may break, but it will feel as if we have been born anew. We still may feel the pain of our lives crushing into us, but it will seem like it is ecstasy rushing against us.…

There is a culture of “women-only” that runs rampant in spaces for pregnant women. Much of the talk is about how valuable women find the support of other women. It also excludes men from the process and experience of pregnancy, as much as they can experience it. Overall the film focuses on the fact that women have been told they’re not responsible for their birth.…

I immigrated because of the Cristero War, in Spain. The war was actually a rebellion of the Roman Catholics in Spain who were persecuted by the government. There were dangers such as raids and the death toll was growing higher every day. Being a Catholic Christian family who simply wanted to live in peace, we moved out to escape the war and the persecution that had caused it.…

For our birth process interview, I was able to get a hold of Lala Aguan who I will refer as mother 1 and Genevie Martinez who I will refer as mother 2. Mother 1 will be the mother who gave birth forty or more years ago and mother 2 will be the one who gave birth within five years or less. Mother 1 gave birth to a healthy son on September 22, 1961 inside their house on the mountains of Ucab. Mother 2 gave birth to a healthy son on November 24, 2010 at Paradise Valley Hospital. Mother 1 already knew what to expect during childbirth because she was helping her elders with other people’s childbirth. She saw everything that occurred during childbirth and was also told of the pain. Mother 2 was told that pain was inevitable but to not panic…

My name is Kimberly feusi and I interviewd two women who gave birth in different decades, one woman in 1983 and the second women in 2006, both women gave birth in the United States, Sacramento. I’m researching prenatal care, and birthing experiences, to see how times have changed and to see if some things have stayed the same. I interviewd Vickie first she gave birth on the 5th of October 1983 and her experience was different from Ann Marie who gave birth on the 5th of January 2006. Vickie was sixteen at the time of her first birthing experience and she was offered classes to show her how to care for a new baby, she took those classes, but Ann Marie was 16 too at the time of her first birthing experience and not offered any classes for her first birthing experience in 2006, but I looked up some resources…
