The Battle of Waterloo was held in Belgium in June 18, 1815, which it marked the last defeat for the French military leader and emperor Napoleon. Napoleon took over most of Europe at the beginning of the 19th century. Napoleon eventually rises up in the ranks in the French army in 1789 during the French Revolution, years later he captured the control over the French government in 1799 and later came into emperor in the year 1804. Napoleon increased his empire across western Europe and central Europe. In addition, a destructive invasion of Russia connected with more defeats, led to his abandonment in 1814. When he went back to France in 1815 he shortly remained in power.
