Bass Fishing Essay
Bass fishing is the most popular freshwater fish in America. Bass are usually found in lakes, rivers and ponds. Most largemouth bass weigh from 1-4 lbs. Bass in Florida have been known to weigh from 1-20 lbs! Largemouth bass can be identified by a large green horizontal stripe down the middle of their body. Bass are the most popular among freshwater fisherman and can be caught in almost any body of freshwater. Bass have also been found to be in brackish water where the salt and freshwater mix.
The best time of the year to catch largemouth bass is the early spring through late May. The reason why the best time of the year to catch bass is May because the fish have just got done from spawning and they are off of their beds. Once bass get off their beds they are shallow and are eating mostly baitfish. Largemouth bass are the most active during May also because they are hungry and don’t get much to eat during that time period.

Top-water baits usually stay on top and look like a injured fish trying to get away from another fish trying to eat it. Soft-plastics are usually an enemy to bass like a lizard. A lizard usually eat‘s the eggs of another bass while they are on their beds and that’s why bass try to eat them. The way to fish a soft-plastic worm or lizard or crawfish is to just throw it near cover; like tree roots or a bush where a bass may be bedding and may want to attack the lizard. Once the bait sits there for about 2 seconds, you will begin to twitch the bait up and down and continue to reel in your slack until the bait is reeled back in. You will just continue that process until a fish is caught or you get tired of using that

During the first stages of late winter, panfish might still be found in deep water in these northern areas. Deep silt bottom flats just outside a weedbed can be real hotspots. The deep silt holds a proverbial smorgasbord of hibernating insects and crustacea. The change in overall daylight potentially awaken these creatures from hibernation. Schools of feisty panfish will be there to gobble the feast. Panfish might remain in this deep silt area for a long time if frigid cold weather persists, or retreat to such a spot if a sudden cold snap arrives later…

Cat fishing can be done anytime during the summer day or night. I prefer night time because there are less people fishing and the fish are more active. But the down side to fishing at night you must then bring a light or build a fire to see the end of your poles. The first thing you will need is a fishing pole with a heavy weight on the end of the fishing line with a treble hook around half a foot up from the weight you do this because cat fish usually stay toward the bottom of the lake or river. What I found works the best and smells the worst is punch bait and you push the treble hook down into the punch bait with a stick because if you get it on your hands they will stink for a while. And another good bait to catch the catfish with is chicken livers and they are a little more difficult to put on the hook.…
