Baskerville Research Paper
Baskerville; designed in 1757 by a japanning worker, self-taught printer, and perfectionist. John Baskerville, the man credited for Baskerville, was struck with the desire to perfect each letter, and aspired to produce a typeface that he “conceived to be their true proportion.” It was seeing cold feeling typefaces that inspired him to create a softer and more rounded typeface.

The popular typeface is categorized as transitional, which is in-between the classical and high contrast or modern. It is known for a having calligraphic influence, as well as it’s bracketed serfis and vertical axis. After spending part of his life being illiterate, Baskerville then became fascinated with calligraphy, and in result there are many handwritten characteristics
