Title: CYBER BULLYING IS AN ISSUE
Topic: Cyber bullying
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience the seriousness of cyber bullying.
Thesis Statement: Today I want to bring awareness to the subject of cyber bullying.

Introduction

Attention Material: More than half of Adolescents and teens have been bullied online (i-Safe, 2012). In society today bullying has become a huge issue. Technology advancements have enabled people to bully from the comfort of their own home without having to be directly face-to-face with their victim. A new era of bullying has been created known as “cyber bullying”.
Credibility Material: Personally, I myself have not been a victim to “cyber bullying”, but I have had friends fall victim to it. Even though it sounds petty, it really weighs heavy on the victims.
Central Idea: Today I want to share what I have learned about the subject of “cyber bullying Preview: “Cyber Bullying” is not ok. Transition: First things first, what is “cyber bullying”?

Body I. “Cyber bullying” is when a child or teen is threatened, harassed, embarrassed, or targeted in any negative way by another child or teen by the means of technology, like cell phones or the Internet. A. It is only considered “cyber bullying” if both sides are minors. 1. When a person of legal age gets involved in the bullying it becomes adult cyber-harassment. 2. Cyber harassment is a lot more severe and police take much more precaution on the matter. B. There are two types of “cyber bullying”, direct attacks and “cyber bullying” by proxy (Parry, 2011). 1. Direct attacks are the most common and consist of the bully being in direct contact with the victim. It can happen numerous ways such as text messaging, instant messaging, sending out pictures of the victim, blogs, etc. 2. An Example of “cyber bullying” by proxy is when someone steals the password of someone’s social networking site
