Barbados Barbados is a wonderful place to visit. It is a small island in the Caribbean. When you visit there will be plenty to do and see. The people are very friendly and fun.
The weather is Barbados is usually very pleasant. It is sunny and warm basically all year round. The average daytime temperature is about 85 degrees fahrenheit. That may sound hot, but there are always cool breezes that make it a perfect temperature for relaxing on the beach. The island of Barbados is located just west of the prime meridian. The island is quite small. It is only about 166 square miles in total. Another way of thinking about it is that it’s 21 miles wide and 14 miles long. Barbados has lots of low land. Each year they produce about 580,000 tons of sugarcane. They sold about 22 million dollars of sugarcane. That’s a lot!

Barbados also grows a number of other crops. These include sweet potatoes, corn, yams, eddo cassava, and many types of beans. A small amount of cotton is grown too.
The people of Barbados eat a specific type of food. The style is called Bajan food. It is a blend of African, Indian, and European flavors. The main dish of the island is food created from corn meal and flying fish called Okra.
The people celebrate three major holidays. The first one is called Emancipation day. It is celebrated on August 1st. Less than a week later on August 7th, the island celebrates kadooment day. The last one takes place on September 22nd, and this day is the September Equinox.
Christianity is a big part of the culture in barbados. Over 95$% of the island’s population is christian. Out of that 95%, 67% of them practice Anglicanism. It is very popular on the

The town was formerly called The Town of Saint Michael. Some people refer to the capital as “The city”. Bridgetown is located on the south western coast of the island.
The overall population of the island is very small with only 284,644 people living there. 90% of the population are of Afro-Caribbean descent. The remaining 10% of the population is mostly made up of Europeans and Asians. Music is a huge part of their culture on the island. It is a type of reggae/R&B.
