Bank Of Oakfield
Throughout my entire high school career, I have been continuously thinking about my future in college. I have always been interested in both engineering but similarly science and medicine. During high school, the majority of my classes involved some sort of science. I even began taking classes at UW-Fond du Lac during the summer involving both science and engineering. This led me to decide that I was going to study biomedical engineering in college. During the latter of my junior, I began to determine what college would be most suitable for me. It didn’t take long for me to come across UW-Madison and their phenomenal Biomedical Engineering department.
UW-Madison is an exceptional and unique university which offers many opportunities, but this comes at a price. In fact, UW-Madison is the most expensive University of Wisconsin school. As a high school student, money is tight and has to go a long way. One option would be to get a job and pay for college that way. However, I think of my education as an investment and would rather focus on my studies than get a part-time job. I believe I can pay for college through my hard work and several scholarships, including Bank of Oakfield’s. With this scholarship, it can put me one step forward in achieving my life goals.
After my first four years of college, I plan on returning and eventually completing a graduate study in biomedical engineering. I want to be the person who discovers something new that can impact everyone for the better. My career will constantly allow me to learn more and develop new ideas. But most importantly, I would be improving the quality of life for many people. Attaining my career goals is not an easy task; however I believe I can accomplish all of them.

Samuel Clemens advised “Go to bed early, get up early-this is wise”, and by appreciating the soundness of his words, rarely, if ever, do I find myself in the chaos of late morning traffic. By accomplishing little everyday small tasks such as getting up early in time for a healthy breakfast or studying in motivating environments allows me to be extremely productive and effective as a student at the Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC). For the past seven months, I’ve held an environmental specialist internship at the Santa Rosa Water Department that goes hand-in-hand with my dedication and efforts at the junior college. Over the past two years, it has been my pleasure to participate in courses and to become a part of the SRJC culture. I am motivated and eager to continue to develop a strong background of calculus, general chemistry, biology and critical thinking, and expanding physics, engineering and organic chemistry. My overarching education goal is to receive a bachelors of science in environmental engineering or hydrologic science. My top three universities of choice are UC Berkley and Cal Poly for their environmental engineering programs and UC Santa Barbara for hydrologic…

My journey started 16 years ago right after I graduated high school. In the beginning, I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, but I knew I was fascinated with science and medicine. In the first part of my journey I attended Community College of Philadelphia. When I got to college I had no idea which way to go or what steps to even begin to take. So I took a few classes here and there while I contemplated a career goal. After taking an anatomy and physiology course I knew that I wanted to become a physician. When I first began Community College of Philadelphia I was immature and didn’t see the importance of doing my best. My grades weren’t too great but when I realized my goal, I knew I had to buckle down and really show the determination and commitment I was capable of. On the second part of my journey, I was lead to Temple University. I knew that this was the time to stay focused and make sure I did the best I could do and more. Temple was my second chance. While attending Temple I learned many valuable life lessons. Not only did temple help shape me into a mature and well-rounded woman but it also helped me achieve the tools required to have a successful future.…

It convinced me to pursue a path in medicine, so I could learn how to work the intricacies of our internal wiring. Taking AP Psychology also opened to me the field of neurology- the foray into the complex chemistry of our brains. I found beauty in the brain’s delicate neural pathways that housed entire lifetimes of memories, and the unique ability of introspection. Along with classes, I participated in medical-oriented clubs such as Health Professionals of America, which helped me experience life in the medical field. As well as clubs, I was an active player in the Girl’s Basketball team in freshman year. I also take archery lessons to improve my dexterity and stamina, which taught me the importance of persistence for improvement. Both my family and my own interest in medicine inspired me to pursue a career path towards Biology in college. Since medicine is increasingly becoming more corporal, I chose to complete a double degree in Biology and Healthcare Management- an option that only UT Dallas…

I started my first year of college with my life prearranged. I had a ridiculous notion that everything was going to be a piece of cake. I was going to join different clubs, do lots of research, make the dean’s list, make my parents proud and attend as many parties as I could. However, now when I look back, I realized that I was too comfortable in my life. I thought I was ready to overcome every obstacle that was thrust upon me but I was sadly mistaken. College was a culture shock. I concluded that college is an entirely different universe, then high school. My GPA dropped for the first time in my life from a 3.7 in high school to a 2.8. The decline in my GPA made me realize that my journey to becoming a doctor is not always going to be easy. It made me hunger to go to medical school even more, to overcome the academic and emotional hurdles, and…

Sacrifices were made, which I came to realize is what a physician's job entails. I had never faced more of a…
