Balance A Soda Can On Its Bevel Lab Report

In this experiment we balanced a soda can on its “bevel”. First we filled the soda can all the way with water and after several attempts the can did not balance on its side. We concluded that the reason the can wouldn't balance correctly was because the center of gravity was not directly over the point where the can needed to be balanced. So we decided to change the location of the center of gravity. By emptying the water in soda can to about only ⅓ of the way filled, we were able to change the location of gravity to the right location and we were able to successfully balance the can. Then to test if the soda can was properly balanced we gave the can a slight push and it returned back to its stable position on its bevel.
