Baden Powell's Life And Music
Baden Powell was a Brazilian guitarist and composer. He fused classical guitar technique with popular harmony and swing. He composed in many styles including Bossa Nova, Samba, Brasilian Jazz, Latin Jazz and Popular Brasileira.

He was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1937 and started guitar lessons in the 1940s with famous choro guitarist Jayme Florence. By the age of fifteen he had developed into a virtuoso and started accompanying singers and bands in bars and clubs.

Around 1955 Powell formed the Hotel Plaza Trio with Ed Lincoln, Luiz Marinho and Claudette Soares. They gained acclaim in the growing Brazilian jazz scene for their skills and jams sessions. In 1959 Powell gained international recognition for “Samba Triste”, which has since been covered
