Bad Habits
Bad Habits

Its midnight and I have a paper due in the morning that I haven’t even started writing yet. Procrastination is one of my bad habits I really need to work on getting rid of. Bad habits can have an affect on your everyday life like work, school, social life, life style, etc. Some habits are easier than others to get rid of but with a well understanding with why you have the habit can help overcome it.

First of all, there are two types of habits automatic and cognitive habits. An automatic habit is a process that runs independently of and executive order by the person. A cognitive habit is a habitual way of thinking about the same situation without really thinking. Cognitive habits are easier to tackle by rethinking one’s constructs. Automatic habits are much more difficult to change. A habit can be formed by doing something daily so it becomes a part of your daily routine so you start to do it subconsciously. For example a habit I have is everyday when I wake up to brush my teeth. I’ve been doing that all of my life so it would be hard not to do that but I wouldn't want to stop because thats a good habit. An example of a bad habit of mine would be waiting last minute to do important things.

Waited last minute to do that project that was half of your grade so you had to stay up later than you usually would to finish it. Alarm clock rings to wake you up and your super tired going to school. By procrastination to do your project your tired when it’s time to wake up. So it has an affect on you at school. Nothing good comes from procrastination what so ever. All it does is make you

I am a huge procrastinator. I always wait until the last minute to do everything. I waited until the last minute to type up this paper. As I type this, my clock reads 11:02 PM and it is the night before this paper is due (yeah, this is how bad I procrastinate). However, all I am thinking about is soon I will finally be done with this paper, and I’ll never have to look at it again (at least until I have to revise it and type up the next…

It’s explained in the first chapter why people procrastinate: vagueness, confusion, and fuzzy-mindedness about what they are trying to accomplish and in what order they should go about tackling it. People need to make list of what they need to accomplish for the day. It could be each night planning for the next day or early in the morning planning for the day ahead of you. Either option is a start. By writing down your list of things to do, you’re able to see your…

I learned that I do not procrastinate as often as I thought I did. When I do procrastinate I am usually doing it because my kids need me for something so I put studying off and say that I am going to do it “tomorrow” and really by tomorrow I say the same thing again. So I usually don’t get all my work done until Fridays and Saturday.…

I didn’t like how I was procrastinating way too much. It was getting out of hand to a point I would just look at my homework and do nothing. I knew why I failed and this made me mad. I tried to complete homework assignments, but my mind would wander or I would get distracted, and I would stop and do something else. I knew if I keep motivate myself to say “Study is important.,” It would eventually go…

“There's nothing wrong with procrastination. Or is there? I'll leave it to you to decide, but only if you have the time.”- Craig Brown. Procrastinating plays a role in someone’s life. It is something that we all as humans try to overcome, but in reality, it is something that will impact us in some way, at any cost. Procrastination is a habit of putting off a task until a later time what could or should have been done at that time. It’s a tormenting weakness I’m struggling with and it’s keeping me back from being successful. It’s like an virus eating up my body infecting various parts of my life.…

Procrastination has become such a bad habit for me. It is hard for me to stop procrastinating. I believe I do my best writing at the last minute. I usually wait until the night before to do most of it. I am usually up late the night before the paper is due. Having things due dates has kept me on task, and keeps me from procrastinating until the day before the paper is due. There was one paper which we had to get sources for a while before the paper was due and it forced me to keep up with the paper, rather than let it go to the last minute. This class has taught me that the earlier you start the more positive your result will be. That was my mistake with the argumentative paper.…

The problem I would like to resolve in my daily life is procrastination. I am a chronic procrastinator and I seem to look for inventive ways to avoid completing some tasks. The practice of procrastination has been the cause of an abundance of stress that is unnecessary. For example, I was having difficulty starting this paper but had a plan to start as soon as I returned home from the store. I ran into a friend while shopping, and found myself in a conversation for quite some time. Rather than explaining to my friend that I had a paper due and needed to keep to my schedule, I extended the conversation in order to put off the task.…

Others do it because they just honestly hate doing their work. Im also a victim of that as well. What is the actual definition of procrastination? The answer is, procrastination is the act of postponing or putting off until a later date. When Mr. Perry wasn’t grading his papers, he wasn’t sitting down, sometimes he would sharpen his pencils, or he would play games with the other kids there.
