The DaimlerChrysler organization has developed a smart fortwo automobile. They have developed this to target teenagers, urban residents, baby boomers, and retirees. The teenagers or Millennials are those that spend a lot of money on clothes and automobiles. Most are pursuing a college education, and are either renting or still living at home. They tend to spend money on big ticket items. The next target is the urban resident. These are consumers who live in the city. They can be people from many diverse demographics, but all have one thing in common they tend to be city dwellers. They live in high rise apartments, or house that are very close together. The third group is the baby boomers. This group has been spilt into two subgroups the younger boomers and the older boomers. The younger boomers are born between 1954 and
Zoomer boomers per page 35 are boomers who have a lifestyle of consumers 20 years younger than they are. They tend to be more health conscience, and develop more of a social support system than their counterparts. Her specific task is to increase the market for the boomers and retirees. With the boomers, she is specifically looking at the older boomers. These are those that will very soon be retirees themselves. They are beginning to think about cutting cost for their retirements, but they still have obligations with children still at home. They will soon transition into the empty nester group. This is just a sub segment that as the name implies do not have any children at home. The empty nesters are in that middle group of working and being retired. Some in fact may already been retired. Her last group is the retired. These are those that have been doing on their research into saving money, and making their lives more practical. They now have the means and need to make that happen.
