Autumn Burrow Research Paper
It suddenly turns into a cold and rainy day in my hometown of Autumn Burrow. Damp and mellow was what my town felt like today. Autumn Burrow's the place where everyone works day and night, and urban myths and rumors of weird encounters with weird creatures. Such as vagabonds, shadows, or any other type of phenomena. I never have actually seen a ghost roaming around town, but it would be a weird experience if I ever saw one. Today, I plan to make a trip to Autumn Burrow's deep forest to find even more mysterious species, and to see if all the urban legends about the monster are true. I then start to gather all of my belongings: a satchel, my journal and pencil, and my beige trench coat. I set foot out of my lovely, wooden home, and headed on down over to Autumn Burrow's timber lands. I then start to grab my journal and pencil out of my satchel and record how I felt as of now. “This forest has already given me a sense of unease. The noise of crunching leaves beneath my feet, and the vibe of someone lurking behind me. This experience has already turned the tables on me, and I feel …show more content…
I met a ghost-like being called a "wisp". Little wisp was like a transparent shadow with blank, white eyes. It seemed so innocent, but yet little to no information was coming from it. I went on to try to describe the other larger, and more taller-looking beast I saw today. But I couldn't quite grasp on a clear image of it since it did move at great speed. However, it was only just a simple shadow monster that might have a connection to Little Wisp. They seem to look like similar beings, but they both are different in size. "I could probably figure this stuff out later, seems too complicated to think of it now", I said to myself. Later on, I then start to write another short entry into my journal before I rest for the night. I want to make sure that I recap the events I had to witness just minutes

A snowy owl will live out the entire course of its life in the open artic in most cases, while others will migrate out of the arctic tundra. They will hunt, eat, mate, reproduce, and die where they reside. The largest bird in the artic, by a weight of up to six pounds, the snowy owl stands roughly two feet tall (National Georaphic). The snowy owl is a fearless hunter and strong protector. The snowy owls are diurnal, hunting mainly during the day unlike most species of owls that tend to be nocturnal. They mainly live in isolated and remote regions of the greater north; this protects them from human interaction. Snowy owls are immensely protective over their home, hunting grounds, and offspring.…

I shivered, coughed, and tried to pull some of the thorns that I picked up during my roll down the hill out of my pants. I decided that rather than taking a chance of being found by one of the trolls or by Gordok himself I should leave. And so I started walking aimlessly through the morning mist and fallen leaves. Suddenly I spotted a tiny home that had been built into a tree off in the distance. I staggered over to the home and knocked a few times on the door.…

Unlike the town, the Forest contains no trace of malice. When Pearl tells her mother, “The sunshine does not love you. It runs away and hides itself, because it is afraid of something in your bosom”, she explains that nature responds to morality (165). The forest can discern between innocence and sin. It is untamed and wild. When rain comes, the water “transmutes the yellow fallen leaves to gold”, signifying the raw beauty that dwells in the forest (183). The rose bush beside the jail resembles good among…

I awoke in the early hours of the morning as usual. The air was thick and wet, but the day’s hunt wouldn’t wait. I got up and stretched my legs before checking the traps I set the evening before. The forest seemed unsettlingly too quiet. Did I wake up earlier than I usually would have? I walked down to the waterhole, to see if any of my nets were filled. There was a soft mist over the shallows, creating an ominous feel. I checked up and down the banks, but my nets had all vanished. With the sounding of the raven’s caw, I decided to head back up to camp. I heard a quick rattle in the leaves due east of my position, so I made haste to draw my bow and hold her steady in firing position. My breath was heavy as the musk in the air poured into my lungs.…

I sit on the swing and softly swaying my body back and forth while kicking the rustling yellowish, golden leaves beneath my feet. The smells of the chimney smoke and the dry leaves that the fresh breeze scatters through the air tickle my senses. The pleasant scent reminds me of the winter approaching, as the fresh, chilly breeze washes over my skin. I memorize everything around me, maybe for the last time.…

Now the atmosphere of my world seems bleak and dull as if I’m living in a horror film, I wasn’t the only one affected by this, the horrible atmosphere washed over the people of this town. Adding to this atmosphere it rained more often. The rain would bring with it an eerie fog that would sneak between everything like an ominous snake. The whole setting sent a chill down my spine every time I stepped foot outside of my house. As if the fog wasn’t enough, the woods that surrounded the town were just hair-raising. I swore I could hear noises, noises unlike any woodland creatures. They sounded almost human, but not quite. The trees themselves moved in quite an abnormal fashion, as if they were live soul bearing creatures. My heart skipped a beat whenever a branch creaked, I began to become very paranoid.…

The crisp winter air blew my hair this way and that, creating knots that would take strenuous effort to undue. However, this did not bother me in the least. The breeze filled my lungs with air and my heart with a yearning for adventure. Maybe it was the breeze or the moon that led me into the woods, or maybe it was fate itself. Putting on my leather boots, I trudged into the dark trees, asking for trouble. But that was how I was a few months ago, troublesome and curious, always waiting for the next big thing to happen. I used to live in anticipation, now I live in remorse and regret. The snow crunched under my boots, and an owl hooted from a nearby branch. As my green eyes adjusted to the darkness, a shadow appeared in the distance. Careful not to make a noise, I slowly inched my way closer to the hooded figure. A single thought surged…

As I continue to sit on my front steps I notice that the leaves are changing colors and gracefully falling as if they are dancing. My mother decides to join me and have a little chat, “I don’t know what to do about your brother, I feel like I should give up but I’d be a terrible mom then again I’ve done all that I can.” She starts to cry as I just hold her and tell her, “We will figure it out, Mom.” I continue to hear the trees rustle like they are trying to talk to each other, but this time it’s like they’re arguing. That breeze rustles the leaves and makes my skin shiver — glad I brought my big cozy sweater.…

What strikes you first is the smell in the air. There is nothing quite like the scent of burning wood—almost like incense. It fits perfectly with the chill. You walk farther, beyond the clearing that surrounds the house, and suddenly you are on a path beneath tall pine trees. As a strong breeze rises, the trees make an eerie, whispering sound. It is not exactly a rustle; it is more like a rush. You recall reading once that the sound of wind in pines is the sound of eternity.…

As you go deeper into the never-ending forest the outside world closes. Not a house, a car or a person in sight, all alone in an enchanted forest. The trees stand together yet are still completely alone. They are like shadows, haunting one another. I looked up at the glistening, starry leaves, gleaming like raindrops. The sounds of the rattling of tiny plants, grass, and swirling leaves on the ground was almost completely silent, only the wind that made the whistling sounds among the bare trees was the only sound that was deafening to my ears. Colors shimmer everywhere, shades of golden reds and oranges, bright yellow, moss green, the dusty brown of the tree trunks and the enchanted light at the end of the road as if it is leading me to a magical place. The treetops are catching the last bit of sunlight before the sun goes down for the day. I hear the soft rustling as the trees branches as if whispering to each other. The birds are singing to each other and the buzzing of the bouncing bees. When the clouds are ebony and gray, and the trees are bare, nature says walk in here in this path, if you dare. Where plants rot and trees are colorless, all humans who enter will despair and depress.…

I crouched on a rock and squinted into the distance. Behind me stood an empty wooden house. The balcony stretched out to the river, casting a shadow over it. I situated myself onto the rock and brought my knees up and rested them against my chest. My notebook lay on them and every now and then, I leaned my chin onto it and close my eyes. I listened to the sounds of the river and the crickets. The wind entered through one ear and made its way discretely out through the other.…
