Autobiography Of Weston Belmas
Autobiography of Weston Belmas
It was just two weeks until school. And cross country practice started. The practices were hard at first but then the got a little bit easier. And time trials came. I was not looking forward to it, but when it came I was like “this is easy.” When school came, the cross country meets came, too. Boy are the meets fun! They were getting harder and harder at every meet and once I had to run two miles around a golf course. The abs workouts are hard still today, it helps me with other sports like soccer. My soccer season went great and we sort of did good. Sadly, I did not make a goal, but I came so close to scoring. I was mainly defense and foreword. A person was so close to scoring but I ran as hard as I could and

Not making this team hurt her and made her overanalyze everything she did on the field. But she learned to push those thoughts aside and just to go out and put in the extra work. This part inspired me because I have tried out for the Olympic Development Program here in Iowa and did not make the team. From experience I can say this fail makes you over think everything you do and also makes you ask yourself if you really are committed to soccer and that you can overcome this failure. Like her I used that fail as fuel to prove myself and just to work on getting better so when I try out again I can get different…

Over the weekend I had a huge Soccer Tournament in Grey. We had two games on Saturday and one game Sunday. In the first game we played a Cumberland club team and beat them 2-0. In our second game we played Westbrook and won 5-0. So at the end of the day we were 2-0 and in first for our bracket, but winslow was also 2-0. Going into Sunday we had to beat South Portland by two goals and not let them score. We ended up tying them 3-3 and we got eliminated because Winslow beat Westbrook 4-0.…

There were many times I wanted to quit or give up but I didn’t even though I really wanted to at points. I remember the last three meets, they were the best. They were in Shenandoah, Atlantic, then Clarinda. Shenandoah was my favorite course i'm not sure why maybe it was the trees and the paths we had to run of were fun, it was shady most of the places and filled with plants and trees on a dirt path. At Atlantic it was pouring rain all day and when it came time for the middle schoolers to run it was muddy and people were falling at the start, everyone got super muddy and wet. Then in Clarida it was the last meet and I was super nervous right when we got there I knew it was gonna be hard. When we walked part of the course there were corn fields and trees on the outside of it. When we got up to the start I was nervous I said I saw scared for the other ones well this one was 10 times worse but the gun went off and we ran and finished, then it was over. The season went fast, it was long but fast at the same time. It was fun scary, hard, but…

When the first game came I was extremely happy yet nervous also. We ended up winning the game by the score of three runs to two although I did not get to bat at all and was put in only for two innings of defense. I was disappointed that I did not get to play much but I was happy with the win. Our second game was the next day and I hoped to get more playing time then. When that day came it turned out that we were playing an extremely skilled team. We were losing three to one in the last inning and I still hadn’t played at all the whole game. One of my friends hit a double and then another one of my teammates hit a single to knock him in to score. The score was now three to two and we had a chance to come back. My coach then decided that we needed someone faster on the bases so he called for a…

When I was ten years old I tried out for my local travel soccer team. I did not expect to make it, but by some stroke of luck I did. I started playing and it was not what I was expecting. In the past I averaged a hat trick every game, but travel soccer was a lot different. I started playing defense, but that might be an overstatement, because I did not get a whole lot of minutes. I knew that if I wanted to play more I was going to have to put in more work outside of practice. I started practicing everyday switching from running, to foot skills, to agility training. I probably spent more time complaining about it and there were a few time that my parents had to push me to practice, but I knew that I had to put in the work.…

It was finally time I was trying out for high school soccer I was thinking as I was walking out on the track with the other kids. We got on the orange track and it was a cool misty morning with the lights lighting up the field and track. The first thing we did is run a mile in under 8 minutes and then we had to run a second one in udder 7 minutes and 30 seconds. When I finished i was getting a drink when everyone was done coach split us up with who made it and who did not make it. When we were split up I realized that I was the only freshman that made it I felt pretty good.…

Later that night my mother told me that even if you don't succeed at first just give it time and practice and eventually you will thrive. The following year I went out for the team again and practiced each day, giving it my all remembering how to control my breathing and when to push through the pain. As the cross country season went on and improved my time, and running form, determined to succeed in the future. I have always been a believer in hard work, and I find the harder I work, the more determined I'm to succeed. My last three years of running I made the district team and became a medalist of central Massachusetts as well as a divisional medalist. Views on practice may differ but it does not make you better, it's the attitude and mentality you put into your practice that truly makes a runner flourish. In brief life throws all sorts of challenges in your way not just in sports but in everyday activities. However success is not final it's a water station to refuel your mind and continue on life's journey, failure is not the end, it's just a horrible race, but the will to practice on after an awful race is what…

Everyone on my team, including me, were 120% focused during our warm-up because we were versing a good Illinois team and their team’s name was Euro SC Select. This team had a lot of skilled and fast players that were definitely bigger than us. Most of the players on this team were very aggressive and physical too, so my team had to be very strong. There weren’t many times when my soccer games were really intense, but this game was very intense to watch and the parents were getting so nervous and anxious. It was a really close game and we ended up tying the game 0-0. Because of the tie in the championship game, we had to go into penalty kicks. My coach got to choose 5 people to kick from the penalty box and they have to try to make it in. My team was so scared to the point where we all held hands and we stayed very close to each other. In the end we were happy because we had made 3 out of 5 goals in and the other team only made 1 goal out of 5 shots! To phrase it better, my team won the tournament and we all lived happily ever…

As a young boy of about nine or ten, it was a dream of mine to play on my school’s Varsity Soccer team. I spent many nights watching the current players contest with other schools for the title of WPIAL Champions. Being a young club soccer player, this was my ultimate goal. Now even though I had a strong passion for the game, my many years of club soccer were not easy. I was not a sub-par player, but I was also not the prodigy that some of my teammates were. I had to work much harder than most players to secure my starting spot on my team, but my efforts definitely payed off. For the first five or six years of club soccer, I held a spot as one of my team’s two starting center defenders. All of a sudden, while at a rainy tournament game in West Virginia, I went into a tackle wrong and injured my back. My entire soccer career went downhill from…

I was extremely nervous despite the fact that everyone had told me I was going to make varsity since I had done so well at camp. There were about 23 people trying out for varsity and only 18 could make it and so I had a good chance at making the team but that still did not calm my nerves. Before we went out to the brand new turf field for tryouts I was psyching myself out and was doubting myself in all ways possible. My hands were shaking, I was sweating, all while listening to the calm chatter of everyone else echoing loudly in the locker room. “You can’t make varsity; the others are just too good” I was telling myself. During tryouts the pace was fast, the humidity was high, and our spirits were just as high. We had to do lots of ball work and ball skills on the first day and I was messing up completely at times. At one point I screamed out in utter anger because I just could not get my feet to do the correct things. I was so angry with myself because I knew I could do better than what I had done that day. I went home feeling utterly defeated but ready for the next day because there were two days of tryouts. The next day I felt absolutely great and I was doing everything right! I was passing every drill while receiving complements from my coaches. I felt great and as I was walking up the big, blue steps to the locker room, I knew that I had done great at…

It was the championship game of our tournament and we had excelled to the top winning each game before hand. But none of that mattered anymore, we had to win the championships or else our long practices and hard work wouldn’t count for much. My team was ahead throughout the whole game up until the last few minutes of the game. A defender on my team violently tripped an opponent inside our penalty box, resulting in the referee to blow his whistle and call for a PK (penalty kick). A PK is a free shot for the fouled team twelve yards in front of the goal with only the goalkeeper standing between the ball and the net. It is also the shooters greatest dream but the goalkeeper’s worst nightmare.…

One of my many happy memories was when I was little and trying each and every sport possible, even wrestling. I have always been active throughout high school playing soccer, basketball, and running track. I was a four year varsity athlete for track & field, along with one year of varsity soccer. Unfortunately I did not play basketball my senior year because of the head coach so I never got to letter. I went to state track for the 4x400m my freshman and sophomore year, which happens to be one of my favorite memories. Being in sports allowed me to make multiple friends while in…
