August's Poem

Never shall I forget that August day,
The first day of cross country,
Which completely turned my life around.
Seven times happy and seven times successful

Never shall I forget my doubts
Never shall I forget the faces of my fearless teammates
Who soon turned my opponents
Along the wooden tail,
Beneath a beating sun.

Never shall I forget my inner pleasure to finish the course,
Which consumed my body’s fatigue.
Never shall I forget that shot gun’s shout
Which kicked my feet into constant motion.

Never shall I forget the hills that became mountains to summit
Motivating me to make my mark
And turn my pain into glory.

Never shall I forget these things,
Even if I am weak from running
As long as I have shoes to stride.
