The Camel And The Jackle

Once upon a time a camel and a jackal lived together in a jungle. There was a river flowing beside that jungle and on the other side of the river, there were fields having ripe sugar-canes.
One day the jackal came to the camel and said that he got a nice plan. He said that they can cross the river and enjoy the sugarcanes as their meal. As he did not know how to swim, so he also requested the camel to carry him on his back. The camel agreed to the jackal's request. They set out for the river and soon reached its bank. The camel carried the jackal on his back and crossed the river safely. On reaching the other side, they began to eat the sugarcanes.
The jackal was soon satisfied but the camel was yet hungry. The jackal told the camel to go back to their home but the camel asked him to wait until he finished his meal. At this the jackal became annoyed and began to howl loudly. The camel asked him not to do so because it would create trouble for them but the jackal said that it was his habit to howl after meals.
His howling attracted the attention of the farmers. They all reached the spot with long sticks. When the jackel saw the farmers with the sticks he disappeared in a bush but the camel was unable to do so for his huge figure. As a result the camel was badly beaten by the owners of the fields.
Now they were to go across the river. The jackal requested the camel to take him across the river. The camel agreed to do so since he wanted to retaliate upon him. When the camel reached the middle of water, he began to roll in the water. The jackal told him not to do so. But the camel said that it was his habit to do so after meals.
As a result, the jackal slipped off the camel's back and fell into the deep water. He was soon drowned. He was rightly punished for his mischievousness.

One night, an aerial battle occurs above the island, and a casualty of the battle floats down with his opened parachute, ultimately coming to rest on the mountaintop. Breezes occasionally inflate the parachute, making the body appear to sit up and then sink forward again. This sight panics the boys as they mistake the dead body for the beast they fear. In a reaction to this panic, Jack forms a splinter group that is eventually joined by all but a few of the boys. The boys who join Jack are enticed by the protection Jack's ferocity seems to provide, as well as by the prospect of playing the role of savages: putting on camouflaging face paint, hunting, and performing ritualistic tribal dances. Eventually, Jack's group actually slaughters a sow and, as an offering to the beast, puts the sow's head on a stick.…

After a while on the island under Ralph’s rule, the boys get tired of working all day long and decide to join Jack’s tribe. Jack has a contrasting view of life on the island and his tribe just hunts and feasts. They do not even have shelters. Ralph and Piggy are the last to switch over to Jack’s tribe and when they do, all of the boys start chanting the hunting song they made up. “The beast struggled forward, broke the ring and fell over the steep edge of the rock to the sand by the water. At once the crowd surged after it, poured down the rock, leapt on to the beast, screamed, struck, bit, tore” (Goulding 213). After the boys killed Simon, Ralph realized what he did was wrong and he left Jack’s tribe. This shows that bad people can get good people to do evil things, but the person will always be good at heart.…

He had just finished speaking when, to their surprise, the water spoke, “No thanks needed” it said. Then a gigantic sand shark flopped onto the ice. The three hunters licked their lips out of hunger. It spoke, “Please do not eat me, for I am the reason you have this fine fish.” Then it jumped back into the water. Day after day the hunters came back again and again to have mounds of fish dumped upon them. One day the sand shark asked for something in return. “I ask only one thing, that you make me the symbol of your tribe.” it said. While at sea with his fellow shipmates the mariner saw an albatross. The albatross had become somewhat of a pet to the mariners, and would come when they called its name. The reason the mariner and the shipmates took a liking to the bird is because of the good luck that it brought to them while they were at sea. The albatross brought a good wind, and good luck “and a good south wind sprung up behind; the albatross did follow”. Then the mariner shot the albatross, that in turn brought bad luck to the mariner and his shipmates. The ship really slowed down, the water turned to ice, and all of his shipmates died. And the reason was because he killed the bird. I feel that he killed the bird because he wanted to play god. Because of the bird bringing joy and good luck and acting as a god like figure. So the mariner killed him to take on that role himself. And he did so unsuccessfully. Because instead of bringing more luck he instead through despair and death. Along with the albatross being killed, all of his friends died. And along with his shipmates dying, he had to watch them die and that in some ways could be considered his punishment.…

“Jackals and Arabs” contains numerous symbols, in regards to depth. Firstly, the Jackals themselves represent the Jewish people, waiting for a messiah and becoming over-influenced by religion. For instance, “Sir, we want you to end this quarrel that divides the world. You are exactly the man whom our ancestors foretold as born to do it”(Kafka 125). With regards to the existential theme, this citation illustrates how the Jackals symbolize the Jewish people, as they want their own nation. Further, the camel carcass represents how the Jackals, or Jews, are unable to act freely. For example, “The had forgotten the Arabs, forgotten the hatred, the all-obliterating immediate presence of the stinking carrion bewitched them. One was already at the camel’s throat, sinking his teeth straight into an artery”(Kafa 125). In this citation, the camel carcass and the way in which the Jackals respond symbolizes how the Jackals contain no free will and are influenced by the…
