Article Of The Week Summary
In the Article of the week, by Ezra Klein she discusses things about the world that you might not have known & that surprises you. She talks about where most of the people in the world live , where in the world it’s the best to be born & who are the wealthiest people in the world & where they live. In my opinion I think the most surprising thing was that more than half of the world's population is situated in one circle around Asia. Asia is the largest continent is the world, has 48 counties & home to 4.427 billion people. The top 5 most populated cities are
Tokyo, Japan , Seoul, Korea , Shanghai, China , Delhi, India & Mumbai India. “Asia covers 30% of the World’s land area with 60% of the world’s population” , stated in the WPR Asia population

I read an article published by San Jose Mercury News regarding a crime committed by an illegal immigrant. Authorities in San Fransisco, California, which people consider as a “sanctuary city”, wouldn’t hand over a certain illegal immigrant to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Additionally, the illegal immigrant was very dangerous considering he had seven felonies and the U.S. deported him five times. While enjoying a sunny day with her beloved father, Kate Steinle was shot by this man on a popular pier in San Fransisco on July 1, 2015. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the first time an undocumented immigrant murdered or inflicted pain upon a U.S. citizen or their loved ones. Furthermore, many attended a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, which includes the Steinles, in Washington D.C. on July 21, 2015. During the hearing, many lawmakers and senators proposed bills in order to both block federal funding of…

While reading this article, I learned so many new things about anti-aging creams and make-up. The bonus is the fact that Olay doesn’t test their products on animals, they do it on human skin from biopsies. The equipment to do all the tests and make the creams is very expensive. One machine costs $350,000.000. They use around 94 ‘gene chips’ with samples of skin to do many different series of tests. In the article they used a lot of fancy words that I don’t quite understand, but I’m sure I can assume what they mean. It’s crazy how much science goes into anti-aging formulas. It’s all about the sun damage and the metabolic stuff.…

Although the conditions that Peggy McIntosh writes about in her article “White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack” are not as present as they were in the past and the United States has been moving away from race being and identifying factor of a person, RACISM is still a modern issue in the US. I would say about seventy percent of what is on that list still is in effect today. Being Latino has proved this to me. Living in specific areas or cities where youth is looked at negatively, me and my friends (black people) were stopped frequently by the cops and multiple times I was the only one that was not searched or had my ID asked for to check my record. Everyone else in my circle never experienced not being checked. When I got curious and asked a cop why this was he responded with “you do not fit the profile of who we are looking for”. The only real difference in appearance with me and my friends was the skin tone.…
