Arnold Friend: A Short Story

The day seemed longer by the minute and the aching head ache wasn’t helping either. Buzzing in her ear and the throbbing in her head didn’t make it easy on her trying to figure out where she was. Her wet back felt like it was touching something like leather, maybe a car seat she thought. The sound of the blasting V8 engine reassured her that she was. Arnold Friend was driving while listening to a Bobby King program but his metallic shades couldn’t give a hint whether he liked it or not. Just then Arnold turned his head and saw who just woke up. “Mornin’ honey” he said in his usual deep tone. She had to turn away because the glasses reflected the sunset right into her eyes and it was that moment that she realized that it was almost dusk and she still wasn’t home.
“Enjoying the ride”, he said sounding a little cocky.
“Bring me back home”, she replied.
“Not yet”, with a little moan.
She tried to register in her head but she really needed an Advil. She pushed through the pain and started to think; first she thought that he probably was dropped of at his place or the kid had to go somewhere. But then she realized that his radio was still in the back and also a pair of gloves and she started to think maybe he was thrown into a lake or he was shot and the gloves were used just to cover up the evidence. The way that Arnold had acted at Connie’s house does support the fact that he might of actually killed him. Arnold has this kinda nice to him and then there is side that you don’t know what he is going to do. How did he know that his parent were at a barbeque?
