Army Ethical Values
U.S ARMY ETHICS
Ethics are standards that are based on value that uphold professionalism through beliefs such as duty, honor and integrity that drives actions and attitudes (Fluker, 2009). Ethical values ultimately relate and are in regards to what is right and wrong. This brings about the aspect of making decision that is rational in regards to what is right and wrong ethically. It is on this note that ethical values should be considered and especially when it comes to decision making. There exist several ethical values that are of interest to the United States of America. It is worthy to note that, army ethics is expressed in forms that have to do with; creeds, oaths, ethos, law and army values that are part and parcel of the army culture. …show more content…
These disciplines include and are not limited to teaching, physician, lawyer, and psychologist and in this case the army. Nevertheless, professionals within the discipline of being in the army are guided by the ethical codes and conduct. These ethical codes range from behavior, values and mode of conduct between self and others whom an individual relates with (Calhoun et al, 1999). The identity of an army personnel is evidently portrayed by the mere fact of how his/her character is based on the set principles of how he/she operates. It is of essence to note that. Army ethics do not really exist but originate from traditions, culture, beliefs and foundational heritage. Nevertheless, army ethics talks more on stewardship. Nonetheless, loyalty brings the nation and the government together by refuting conflict and dissension. This is unquestionable as it goes hand in hand with status quo. Various components must be balanced to ensure loyalty and these include and are not limited to interest, institution and values that lead to cohesion and harmony.
Fairness
Fairness is demonstrated by the factors that necessitate impartiality and open-mindedness (Neale, 2010). Army staff must be devoted to justice in the performance of their respective official tasks. Fairness involves the art of not being biased, capricious or arbitrary. All members of the staff must be treated with tolerance and with equal terms.
Respect
Respect is a value that most people uphold in regards to mutual co-existence. On the same note, treating people with utmost dignity and the honor of privacy is critical to the ethical standards set within the discipline of members who are in the army. Nevertheless, lack of respect leads to a misunderstanding based on loyalty and honesty within the federal government. The consequences of not having respect may brig chaos to the large surrounding community.
