Veterans play a big role in shaping our country and it is our job to recognize that. If you have never talked to a veteran about their experiences in war, try it sometime and you might see how valuable they were in the making of the U.S. I think that it was smart that Dwight D. Eisenhower changed it from Armistice Day to Veterans Day because like I said it is very important to keep

It is important to keep honoring our veterans because they have sacrificed so much for this country. Also we honor them because we need to tell them how appreciative we are of their dutiful service to our country. Even the president honors our veterans. Each year the president or one of his representatives lays a wreath on The Tomb of The Unknown Soldiers in the Arlington Cemetery every Veterans Day to honor those veterans. Even though the first unknown soldier was laid to rest there on Armistice day on the year of 1921 this ceremony still continues. This is one way that shows just how important honoring our veterans…

They gave their lives so we are able to live ours without having to fight as they did. They made it possible for our country to live with freedom and liberated from others. While many Americans often forget this, we should still live under the influence of their sacrifices and should respect their efforts each day. For example, many Americans refuse to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, something that is important to our nation and the people. I believe it is our duty as Americans to respect and honor the people who fought for our country, the people who left their lives behind to fight for our cause not just for their own.…

In 1938, Armistice Day, Veterans Day original name, became a legal holiday. In 1945 just after World War II ended, congress changed Armistice Day to Veterans Day. Since then, Veterans Day was created to show pride to American Veterans of every war, with the oddity of a few years in which it was celebrated every year on a Monday, November 11th.…

Although the Vietnam War was clearly a detrimental event in the history of America, some still try to argue that it benefited America and or strengthened our nation. When trying to refute my personal claim that Vietnam was a bad war for America to join, these are the only two main reasons others say the war was a good event for America’s history.…

On the eleventh day of the eleventh month every year since 1919 we have honored our veterans, but have you ever asked why? It’s a celebration to honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of our country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good of our nation. Maybe because some veterans are forced to cope with war injuries, amputated limbs, disabilities or post-traumatic stress disorder after they return home. Veterans risk their lives for others who never had to witness or experience the emotional and physical stress of war.…
