Introduction
In 1918, the wars of all wars ended on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. Four years after World War I ended an armistice was signed. November 11, 1919 was set as Armistice Day, a day to remember the sacrifices that all the men and women made during World War I. In 1954, President Eisenhower signed a bill renaming Armistice Day to Veterans Day. In 1971 president Nixon declared Veterans Day a federal holiday on the last Monday in October. But many Americans did not like that the change in the date of the holiday, so therefore president ford signed a law returning the holiday back to the traditional date on November 11.
