The U.S Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta, announces the pentagon will lift the ban on women serving in “roughly a quarter-million jobs involving combat.” (Thompson) Along with the U.S, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Eritrea, North Korea, and Israel officially allow women in military combat roles. (Fisher) It might take time for the U.S, who recently implemented this policy, to form a truly gender-integrated military were double standards don’t exist and were military testing is gender-blind.
