Argumentative Essay: Everyone Should Serve In The Army
Don’t you think that everyone should serve in the military for at least one year once they turn 18? They already require mandatory service in 27 countries including: Austria, Belarus, Brazil, Denmark, Egypt, Greece, Israel, Mexico, Russia, etc… But, you do run the risk of people dying in battle. Requiring everyone 18 years of age to serve in the military would bring people together from different social, economic, and political backgrounds, the training that they will receive will lay a foundation for them, bring out skills that they may not be aware that they have, they will create a great army and other people will not be likely to attack you, and in Israel men and women are required to serve in the military for 3 or 2 years, respectively. …show more content…
In the military you learn bravery, discipline, trust, and honesty. People will be more likely to hire someone that has served in the military because they served our country and that they know that they are honest and trustworthy. The military provides on the job training. This would be a great benefit to those who cannot afford college. When their service to their country is over they have also learned valuable skills that will help them. For example, a military lab technician would be a job in high demand after discharge from the service. People in the military are very disciplined and brave and will not give up very …show more content…
People will appreciate the people who served in the military more if they have to serve in the military. And it is a very honorable thing to serve in the military for our country. In other countries it is very honorable to serve in the military because you are risking your life for your country.
Mandatory military service can also be good because it will keep other countries from attacking your country. Look at Israel for example. The Arabs would love to just wipe Israel off of the map, but they can’t because every person in Israel has military service and is trained. Every person in Israel has a gun and the Arabs are afraid to invade because they know that they will be crushed by them. Even though they are 45 times the size of Israel. That is just one example why having mandatory military service would be such a good thing.
In Israel, men and women are required to serve in the military for 3 or 2 years, respectively. This is because they are afraid of an invasion of their country and they want to be prepared. It says that every person over the age of 18 is bound by the law if they are an Israeli citizen to serve in the military if they are capable. People will be excluded if they are incapable, or for medical problems. It is very rare for them to deem someone incapable because once they get better, they have to still serve in the

If the draft is brought back, the military would obviously never be weak in terms of numbers. Also, despite the increased wage towards the support of troops, cost would be preserved from the savings of other budgets being cut. And last but not least, it is the duty of a U.S. citizen to defend their country when in need. The reinstatement of the draft would be a great benefit towards the country of the United States of America. This has created a large debate over a military draft. This topic of discussion has been contemplated and deliberated since military forces were created. There are two sides, those for and those against. The debate over the draft is endless. Many realistic points can be made from either side of the argument over the draft, but the most logical and simple solution is to reinstate the…

I do not agree with the reinstitution of a military draft. In 1973 the military draft was lifted in the United States and with good reason. The United States should not rely on a draft to fill military vacancies but rely on recruitment. It is true that the military offers incentives and luxuries that some civilians could not afford otherwise such as food, shelter, and medical care. However, they are just that, incentives. The military is an option and should remain that way. Many enlist for different reasons, some with economical reasons, others with strong political urges, but they enlist out of their own desires, beliefs, and more importantly, free will. Some see the military as a way of life; others see it as the only way to educate themselves in a society where education is valued so highly. With rising tuition costs, many enlist in the reserves as a guarantee for their degree. College is costly and even with the aid of tuition assistance and can leave a graduate drowning in debt. These are all choices all college bound 18-25 year olds make and some just do not have the luxury of choosing.…

As of today, the military has a volunteer service only as its profile. As stated in a Farlex dictionary a military volunteer is “a person who freely enlists for service”. Any american citizen over 18 can volunteer for any branch regardless of gender, ethic, or religion. Other than soldiers, doctors, lawyers, scientists and a wide range of other careers are recruited and used in the military. The volunteer system supports the Declaration of Independence's phrase of guaranteeing citizens the right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” by giving Americans the freedom of choice to chose to serve the country, or live about freely. The majority of America doesn't like the idea of having a draft introduced again, since it doesn’t exactly fit the phrase of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”, in all aspects of citizens trying to achieve the “American Dream”. Though the majority of citizens is…

Personally I don’t believe that the U.S. should make citizens serve in the military. I believe this because people should be able to choose what they want to do in life and what they want to study and what they want to make of themselves. Often people don’t even have the physical strength or abilities to join the military, or the mental state to serve. Yes, I know that our country needs protection but we need other things too.…

The selective service started off in 1917 as a result of the United States joining in WWI. This required men from the age of eighteen to thirty to sign up to serve in the US military. The selective service was put in to action because the US military needed a larger army to go in to combat with power countries like Europe. This was directed toward men only at the time because women did not serve in the military. Today the selective service ranges from ages eighteen to twenty-six. Recent actions in Congress have reached a decision to include women in signing…

In 2015 the United States Government opened up all military positions to women (Kube and Silva). This step for women joining the ranks of our military has commenced talks of women signing up for the draft when they turn eighteen like men have done since 1980 (Barno). Many people believe that women registering for the draft will encourage equality, while many others believe that their duty is at home during times of war.
