Argumentative Essay: Do Guns Kill People
Do guns kill people or do people kill people? Child soldiers is a very heart-wrenching topic. Yes, children are taken from their families and commanders forcefully require these children to kill people. These children are brainwashed and drugged into thinking that this act is the correct thing to do, when clearly it is not. Like any other murderer they should be prosecuted. If a child in the United States was forced and drugged into being a murder regardless the age, wouldn’t they be prosecuted? What is the difference? Many will say that the position that I take is wrong. They say that these kids are brainwashed, they don't know what they were doing and they were taught this evil act of killing. Therefor they deserve a second chance. This right here proves my point, they were brainwashed and …show more content…
If a child is taught that this is okay then what will happen when they receive amnesty? They may become more violent and eventually commit more crimes as they get older. These children will remember the violent acts and have flashbacks of them, what if they go completely crazy over these thoughts and do something tragic like hurt themselves or hurt others we need to work on the world and if we are going to do that we need to punish who deserves to be punished. In conclusion I feel as though child soldiers should be prosecuted. There is no reason why these children shouldn’t be prosecuted. They created a crime. Guns don’t kill people, people kill people. Anyone who disagrees with that is saying that a gun has a mind of it’s own when it doesn’t but the person behind the gun has a mind of their own. Prosecution is the appropriate approach to this issue. I hope that my letter changed your opinion or made you look at this issue differently. I want to thank you for reading my letter and remember criminals are criminals regardless of their age, sex, race, income, or

Obviously, defending these children does not degrade the painful loss of losing loved ones (Jenkins 8). Immaturity is something to be overcome, not receive dire consequences for. Now, that is not saying that consequences are not necessary or that immaturity is an excuse. Keep in mind the significance of an entire life in prison. Prison is meant to teach a lesson, but a child amongst men will receive no such thing.…

You sit in a trench and wait for your orders to come. You look left and right to see your comrades sitting with you, but they aren’t grown men and women, they are children. Your mind is unsteady and lightheaded from the drugs you were given. When you look out of the trench you see children only eight years of age marching into a village and burning everything down to a smoldering ash. Some children do it for protection others doing it for their religion. Hundreds of lives were taken when the village burned down, and it was all at the hands of children. Child soldiers have been in existence for years. People believe that child soldiers should be punished for their crimes and put into jail, but why? Why would you put a little one in jail when they were told what they were doing was right? These minors have not been given the proper chance to live a life to the fullest of their potential.…

Child soldiers are victims, not perpetrators, so they should be granted amnesty. Though to some it may look like these kids are choosing this life, in reality, most aren’t. They either have to join those forces or die, which is terrifying for any child to imagine. Not only that, but they were drugged to kill, making them forget how bad it was that they were doing. And to some of them, that army was the only family that they have, providing better living conditions than those out on the streets. Which is why these children are victims of this terrible event and should be legally forgiven for what they were forced to do.…

Child soldiers shouldn't be prosecuted as adults for their actions. Instead they should be rehabilitated. Instead they could be rehabilitated. With rehabilitation it could help them heal from the damage caused for such trauma. Others argue that they still have done the crimes and it wouldn't be right, especially for victims, to let them free. The children shouldn't be blamed for what they are forced to do, the people authority should have punishment for having child soldiers. Giving child soldiers adult consequences for their actions would be insensitive and more damaging. Their brain isn't fully developed, making them easily manipulatable. Child soldiers shouldn't be persecuted instead of rehabilitated.…

To illustrate, an article called “Kony’s Killers”, written by Samuel Okiror, says “[Child Soldiers] killed, maimed, mutilate, attack camps, abducted children, rape, slavery, torture and pillaging” (Okiror Para 2). This piece of evidence stated helps prove the claim, as it shows all of the merciless things that child soldiers have done. Criminals in America have gone to jail for a quarter of the reasons stated, yet there are still arguments whether child soldiers should be pardoned for all the crimes they committed. Additionally, another piece of evidence that supports the claim from an article written by Gregory Warner states, “… He forced many children to kill people” (Warner 3). This suggests how not only did the young soldiers inflict crimes, but forced other children to do it themselves.…

In 2010, there were over 200,000 children fighting in wars. 20% of those kids, were a part of government groups. After the war, the government turned around and said those kids need to be prosecuted. How would you feel if you were forced to fight and traumatized for life, then have to go on trial for something you never wanted to do in the first place? According to the United Nations along with other human rights groups, a child soldier is considered a child who is 18 years or younger fighting on the front line (Child Recruitment pg.1). Child soldiers are found all over the world except for North America. If these children ever get out of war, some may have to get prosecuted for the things they did while completely brainwashed. That is unfair considering most were forced into this terrible matter. Once the child soldiers get out of the situation they are in, they should be sent to rehabilitation centers to…

Juveniles shouldn't get sentenced to life without parole for committing a crime at a young age. A punishment is necessary but, sentenced to life without parole at a young age is devastating. Why should they even continue to live? They are young and deserve a second chance to rehabilitate. All we do is just throw these kids in prison and forget about the. What these kids need is treatment especially, those raised in violet environments. Sometimes they grow up unaware of what's good or bad. It may not be there fault. I'm not stating that they don't deceive a punishment, what the need is a punishment but also the support of a person.…

But on the other hand, how can killing children be a better option that trying to help them, “executing children is immoral and uncivilized.” ("Arguments For and Against the Juvenile Death Penalty.) When jail isn't the best option, we, as society of liberty and freedom, should be able to find a better solution to help the children. In fact, "with the exception of Somalia, the United States is the only country in the world that still executes juveniles.” (Arguments For and Against the Juvenile Death Penalty). If these children get the right education and if somebody shows the right way how to solve anger problems, etc, these children can turn out to very good adults, that are needed in the society and society will be likely to live with them and to integrate them. Although murder is not ok, but by all means we should give second chance’s to those who couldn't contain their anger that caused them to lash out and…
