Argument Analysis: Can Animals Think

Animals and humans share a very interesting bond through intelligence and certain behaviors. Scientists and even common folk debate whether animals can think or not. I believe that they can think and there's evidence to prove it. Animals are capable of thinking. Animals can think to help each other and others. For example in “Can Animals Think” by Eugene Linden it says “Orky had been watching the procedure, apparently sizing up the problem, he swam under the strecher and allowed one of the men to stand on his head. This was remarkable,says Tim, since Orky had never been trained to carry people on his head like seaworld's Shamu. Then, using the amazing power of his tail flukes to keep steady,Orky provided a platform that allowed the keeper to reach up and release the bridle so that the 420 lb baby could slide into the water within reach of help.” Orky was intelligent enough to figure out what was going on so that he could find a way to intervene to help his baby. Orky also figured out that the way to help the baby orka was to assist the keepers. He was lastly not trained to carry people like seaworlds orcas, he just figured out what to do in the moment.

Thinking that the orange must have rolled off somewhere inaccessible, Helen gave her another one. When Maladi shuffled off Helen noticed that she had hidden the orange in her other hand.¨ Meladi thought of a way to deceive Helen into giving her another orange. Meladi made such a plan to get more food so that she could survive. Meladi did this act by herself without seeing any other person or animal do it before her. Melody also showed her intelligence by hiding the orange from Helen knowing that she wouldn't give her another orange if she saw the first orange that she gave her. Animals can think to solve
