Application Essay: A Career As A Healthcare Assistant

Being a compassionate, committed and competent individual whose passion in care is enormous, who derives joy in advocacy and assisting those who are unable to live their normal life independently motivated me to choose this career path. Being a voice to the voiceless seems to be a very important way of being part of the community. My desire of advocacy made me to join healthcare sector workforce which has been very productive in my life and to the lives of those that I support. My role as a healthcare assistant both in private and NHS setting has not only furthered my experience but also presented me with opportunities of personal and professional development. I have over 6 years of experience, working with people with different conditions, ranging from physical to mental needs.

Being a dignity champion, I always ensure that service users are treated fairly and equally irrespective of their ethnicity, gender, sexual preference and religion by adopting a non-judgemental approach. Protection of their dignity is also not to be an extra as these are their basic human rights.
My attention to details and positive approach has proven effective in dealing with conflicts and my courage has been pivotal in managing situations that are challenging at work without escalating it.
