She and her family went into hiding on July 9, 1942. During this time, Anne wrote in her diary about her experiences, hope, and dreams. The eight Jews who lived in the Secret Annex for two years were found on August 4, 1944. She was 15 when her family and the others she was hiding with were found. She was sent to the concentration camp Westerbork. On the night on September 5, 1944, Anne and the rest of her family arrived in Auschwitz. She stayed there until October; then got moved to the Bergen-Belsen camp. She was there until her death, which was in February or March of 1945. All of her family died except for her father, who later published her diary. The Diary of A Young Girl by Anne Frank is historically accurate because of the anti-Semitic laws, the destruction of Jewish culture, and the Nazi presence. Indeed, there are many anti-Semitic laws.
There are many examples of anti-Semitic laws. Anti-Jewish laws were used in the 1930s and 40s in Germany and other Nazi-controlled countries. "Jews must wear a yellow star..." (Frank 4). Wearing a yellow star was a tactic that the German government used to dehumanize Jews and mark them as different and/or inferior. It also helped to separate Jews from society. Culture is "the skills, arts, etc. of a given people in a given period; civilization" (Webster's New World Dictionary 152). "...we emigrated to Holland in 1933..." (Frank 3). Emigration is destruction of Jewish culture because they had to leave their homes and many of their belongings unwillingly. The Nazis forced them out of their country because the Nazis believed Jews were inferior, second-class, and parasites to Germany. In essence, this is a good example of the Nazis destruction of Jewish culture.
There are many ways in which the Nazis ruined many Jewish people's beliefs. They did this by plundering Jew's property, putting Jews in concentration camps, and forcing Jews to emigrate. "…the German administration starting confiscating Jewish property" ("The Netherlands" 2). By taking Jewish property, the Nazis also take part of their culture. Hitler also destroyed Jewish art. Overall, this is another example of the Nazi's destruction of Jewish culture.
There are many ways in which the Nazis decimated the Jews' way of life. The Nazis did this when they committed genocide on the Jewish people. Hitler classes Jews as second-class citizens ("Hitler in Colour"). Classing Jews as second-class citizens takes away some of their rights.
