Animals Hurt Just Like Us
Kassandra Adams
Animals Hurt Just Like Us Animal cruelty is one of the most heartless acts of abuse all over the world. Although some animals nature is rough and harmful to people, no animal deserves to be cruelly treated in an inhumane fashion, there are different ways to keep the harmful animals from harming anyone in a humane fashion. Animal cruelty is one of most sicken crimes to me, how someone can hurt an innocent animal and barely get any type of punishment is beyond me and is just as sicken as the crime. Animal cruelty should be considered a felony instead of a misdemeanor because hurting an animal causes just as much pain as hurting a person. Harming a person is considered a felony why not harming an animal. Forcing dogs and chickens to fight, setting fire to animals, and violently hurting an animal are examples of why animal cruelty should become a felony and not a misdemeanor.
There are some breeds of animals that are used for gambling and making money. Most of these ways are humane but there are some gambling games that are cruel to the animals, such as dog fighting. The most famous case of dog fighting is the case of Michael Vick, a NFL football player. Michael would force dogs to fight and rip each other up and eventually kill them. Michael watched dogs being slaughtered by one another every fight he held. Although Michael did serve a short amount of time in prison and a loss of a million dollar NFL contract, he still was released and able to be a part of yet another NFL team and make millions of dollars. I cannot stand the sight of a sad puppy dog face let alone watching dogs mull each other. It’s just as watching someone torture and kill another person. You are considered an associate to murder if it’s a person, but why not as an animal? As of right now animal cruelty is considered a misdemeanor, which is no more than a year of jail time. Animals are just like us, they have feelings and hurt. If a person beats, or kills another person it’s

On Thursday, June 9, 2016 at around 8:00 pm, I, Sergeant Bever was patrolling the College Park neighborhood area. I observed several vehicles at the Pure Gas Station located at 2218 Ladnier Rd and some were playing music loud enough that could be heard over 100 feet away. I pulled into the parking lot of the gas station to address this and witnessed a black male nervously walk away from a white Lincoln Town Car parked in front of the business. A Mississippi antique tag (200664) was displayed on the Town Car and was ran through NCIC. The tag came back to a 1978 Red Buick car and registered to Joseph or Orquidea Harris of 11499 Acorn Dr, Gulfport, MS 39503. I then pulled into the car wash next to the gas station and waited for the driver to return and leave so I could conduct a traffic stop for having a switched tag.…

There are many ways in which people tend to abuse of animals. An example is neglect, meaning that between a pet and the owner there is a “failure to provide an animal with the most basic of requirements of food, water, shelter and veterinary care” (What). Dogfighting is another example. Dogfights are events when two dogs are put inside a fighting pit and are forced to fight until the other one is dead or is too weak to fight back. The fights are brutal and the owners abandon the loosing dogs with only a couple more hours to live because of its deadly injuries or inhumanly kill the dogs themselves. The winning dog owner gets a money price. Most of the dogs that are considered to not be good enough to be entered in the pit and be victorious are used as bait to train other dogs or as breeding dogs where they are constantly exploited. All of these actions that people inflict on the animals can make them become very scared of humans, other dogs and their surroundings causing them to be very…

I am so sick of hearing cases on the news, like "Man from Atlanta is facing penalties in Georgia in which a puppy was cooked in an oven" or "Brothers in Atlanta are being charged for putting a puppy in a gas range and turning the gas on." Animal cruelty is one of the most common types of violence in the United States. It is not as accustomed to hear such heartbreaking cases as these. Some of the most common forms of animal cruelty are: Animal testing and experimentation in laboratories, lack of owners care and attention, and using animals as a way of entertainment. Now, lets take a closer look at these three forms of animal cruelty.…
