Have you ever noticed how many dogs look, sound, and even act differently? Their differences are called adaptations. There can be physical or even behavioral. When a species looks different, like the dogs mentioned above, this is called a niche. Animals seem to adapt in different ways, but we must remember adaptations take years.

When a species looks different from another this is a physical adaptation. When an animal mates with another they produce an offspring with physical and behavioral traits that were passed down from their parents. If these traits can help an animal survive that specific animal tries to keep that deformity or trait within the family. These are mostly physical traits. An example of these are finches.
Usually this relates to the weather. If the weather becomes unbearable for an animal. That animal will change their actions and behaviors to sute their behavior. An example of this is when certain birds migrate south for the winter, or when a bear hibernates for the winter. Both animals cannot survive by themselves in the cold, but changing their behavior will allow them to adapt to the cold weather; just in a different way.

Now some adaptions happen because there is competition in the environment. Yes, this world is hug, but this does not mean finches do not live in the same place. There can be many types of finches in one country, state, or even forest. To make this possible each species will adapt their behavior and physical traits so they can eat or inhabit different objects in the same area. There are even bugs that will adapt the color of their bodies so they can camouflage themselves in different areas. All these examples are called Niches. This is when an adaption happens to animals in the same area; just so they can survive.
