Krakauer wrote that Chris McCandless was, "green, and he overestimated his resilience, but was sufficiently skilled to last for sixteen weeks on a little more than his wits and ten pounds of rice"(Krakauer 182). In this quote it seems that Krakauer thought that McCandless was well equipped with his skills, so that made moderately prepared to survive in any situation. I feel that McCandless was rather prepared, yet again he never could have been fully prepared for the unexpected. My opinion is that McCandless was vaguely aware of the struggles that he would encounter in the Alaskan wilderness such as his epiphany that "happiness is only real when shared" was realized when his body was dying of starvation. I believed that he found what he was…

Franklin Delano Roosevelt book by Alan Brinkley is considered to be a brilliant biography of America’s thirty-second President. As he himself noted, “No president since the nation’s founding has done more to shape the character of American government” (p. 62). Indeed, the main aim of this short biography is to highlight Roosevelt’s greatness and guile that to most went unnoticed. As Brinkley claimed and most scholars agree, “No president since Lincoln has served through darker or more difficult times,” Roosevelt is recognized as a resilient President that led the country through the worst economic crisis in history (p. 98). In addition, Brinkley aims to provide a concise, but vivid narrative of Roosevelt’s character and notable achievements,…

Secondly, Christopher McCandless was an intelligent and idealistic young man who craved adventure and risk taking. McCandless reflected his passion for the wild and nonmaterialistic items in accordance to Henry Thoreau’s way of thinking. Henry Thoreau believed that man could come to terms with his own existence and find a higher purpose. According to Krakauer, during McCandless’s adventure he “Put a match to it. One hundred and twenty- three dollars in legal tender was promptly reduced to ash and smoke” (Krakauer, p. 29). By burning his money, McCandless showed he didn’t want to depend on money but instead he chose to live sparingly. Into the Wild, chapter 6, is a letter to Ronald Franz saying “The joys of life come from our encounters with new experiences and you must do it economy style: no motels, cook for yourself, general rule spend as little as possible and you will enjoy it much more immensely” (Krakauer, pp. 57-58). McCandless was trying to encourage Ronald Franz to enjoy life and to live more freely. Christopher McCandless put nature above a lot of things which he proved by burning his money, he was able to live entirely without help from the government. In the book, Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer Henry Thoreau McCandless’s literary hero said that “Rather than we, than money, than fame, give me truth. I sat at a table where rich food and wine in abundance, an obsequies attendance, were but serenity and the truth were not;…

In the summer of 1790, twenty-seven chiefs from the major tribes of the creek nation marched into New York City with one main purpose: to negotiate a peace treaty that would grant the Creek Nation the land they inherently deserved and to end the bloody war on the Southwestern Frontier. Seemingly leading the chiefs to New York City was the Native American version of George Washington, and his name was Alexander McGillivray. The McGillivray Moment was a point in time that we know very little about, for the official negotiations between the Creek Chiefs and our then loose federal government was oddly never recorded, so we can only speculate the topics they covered and their reactions to them by reviewing their final documents and papers. By…

Writing has always been one of the most crucial aspects of a person’s daily life simply because it is everywhere. As a few examples, it is present when sending a letter, writing an email, posting on social media, publishing research documents, generating a code, etc. Yet, despite the unique goal a specific written piece might have, in general, it has the purpose of communicating something, an idea, to someone else, an audience. Therefore, how well something is written should be assessed as a matter of its effectiveness to communicate clearly its core idea.…

My son Malcolm informed me today that the former Thane of Cawdor has died. In my opinion, he got what he deserved after he arrogantly betrayed us. But before dying he asked for my forgiveness and he was deeply sorry. I shall never forgive that traitor and may he burn in hell for his disloyalty. He is a disgrace to his clan and all of Scotland. After a while, my subjects, including Macbeth came. I was so happy with Macbeth, what he did can never be repaid. I praised him in front of my subjects, so they can view him as role model. Banquo's actions were also good but they cannot be compared to Macbeth's actions . Before they left, I made an important announcement. I've declared my son Malcolm to be heir to the throne. From now on he'll be the…
