Case: Negotiating the Handicap A consideration of any important missing information that if available, could alter your judgment. A description of the reasonable alternatives A. In-school social work services Have Sally meet with a school social worker on a weekly basis for a specific period of time, this will allow the social work the ability to asset Sally’s needs, struggles, and behavior issues. The school social worker will be able to assist Sally so she can successful in school. The social worker goal will be to assist Sally and provide the resources and support she needs to be successful in reaching her educational goals. B. Allowing the child to remain in the normal class room setting and receive daily speech and language therapy during the day. An endorsement of one of the alternative I have decided to endorse the second alternative for Sally case management. I feel that allowing Sally to stay in her classroom will be less disturbing and give her teacher the opportunity she needs to find ways to accommodate Sally’s speech and learning disability. She can work with the school social worker, speech and language pathologist, and other members of her IEP team to make sure Sally is able to obtain help in area she needs to meet her academic and personal needs so she can succeed with her educational goals.
