As the world of work becomes more complex, many workers need training to avoid losing their jobs or being passed over for promotion. Consequently, many who would not have considered college 20 or even 15 years ago are finding themselves back in school. As adults become students, employers, colleges, and workers are changing old notions about how to go about pursuing higher learning.

Analyze this social trend in an essay of about 500 words. Discuss how this trend will affect workers, companies, and institutions of higher education.

It is known that today the world becomes more complex and requires

well-trained employees who will be able to pass over for promotion and meet

the major organizational demands. Many employees who would not have

considered college 20 or 15 years ago are ready to return to schools. Therefore,

adults become students, while employers, colleges and workers have to

completely change their old notions about how to go about pursuing higher

learning. This social trend requires the proper solutions as it will affect

employees, companies and institutions of higher education.

To start with, employees will have to change their attitudes towards

If women who were captured by Indians sometimes chose to go back to their captors, my opinion is that this was most likely caused by the fact that in the British colonies, women were stuck in a world of subjugation. They may have found life in another culture such as the Native American tribes fairer, or at least more tolerable to live in, if they were accepted. I formed this idea from the evidence in the text in which I repeatedly found the female colonists were second-class as a usual practice in most colonies. Even the small amount ‘man’s work’ women were sometimes doing was limited to fieldwork, and only if labor was scarce.…

The trend of pursing higher learning is due to the fact of motivation of today’s workplace. As the world of work has become more complex, many workers need training to avoid losing their jobs or being passed over for promotion. There’s a lot of competition out there to get employment in today’s workplace but it’s extremely hard for people to get jobs due to not having a college education. Having a college education does prepare you to be competitive in the workplace and prepare you for your career goals. Furthermore, there’s a great return when having a college education because of the income salary increases, career opportunities, retirement savings and healthcare are guaranteed than for someone who does have a college education then someone who doesn’t have a college education. I believe working adults are going back to school to attain a degree because they want to become successful, to avoid losing their jobs to someone who has a college education and staying in a position without any advancements due to the fact they’re not educated enough. Many employers are looking for college educated workers because they learn more tasks quickly, better problem solving, highly driven, motivated, excellent communication skills and able to meet deadlines in a timely manner then someone who doesn’t have a college education. Also, employers want to hire someone with a college degree because their more likely to have the right technical know-how for the job, written skills, oral communication skills, decision-making, and research and analytical skills. As far as some institutions they offer internship programs and employers depend on that during their hiring process. Nevertheless, some institutions feel as though those employers should provide on the job training and the institutions should just focus on educating their students with knowledge. With campus institutions they face overcrowded classes, library…

The higher education system in America has become an expectation, and an apparent necessity, for those looking to achieve success in the work force. Young adults' mentors, including teachers, counselors, and parents, urge students to attend college after the competition of high school, no matter the circumstances. In his work, "Are Too Many People Going to College", Charles Murray brings this system of postsecondary education under question, analyzing the problems within our society that have grown from the high importance placed on earning a college degree.…

Peering into an 8:00 am class full of freshman college students, many observations can be made. There are students with their heads down, (obviously still listening to the professor) students with their pencils racing, students with their minds wondering, and students with their attention to the teacher. As one might note, not all students have their mind focused on what they paid for. Some people go through college as a party or just because it’s become one of societies “norms”; others have a set goal in mind. However, if used to its best ability, college allows one to gain an advantage over high school diploma holders, by attaining the knowledge, skillsets, and tools to achieve or explore their career goals.…

Having a college level education can make the life changing difference between having a job you love, and being forced to do something you don’t particularly enjoy for the remainder of your life. In addition to that, a college education opens several doors which have numerous benefits including better job opportunities, having a job you love or are pleased with, job stability, and earning more money. My college education will allow me to experience all of that, as well as acquire knowledge in my field and knowledge in things not directly related to my career of personal training. I am pursuing a college degree in order to make more money in the field I am going into; without it I would make a significantly less amount.…

One of my favorite commercials is an advertisement from a company known as Carinsurancegurus.com. It is located on YouTube at URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMpO92hSbFA. I decided to select this commercial because of its simplistic nature, comedy, and unexpected behavior. The advertisement targets the beginning to mid thirties, males, basically because of the character who happens to be a male of that age. I think they decided to target this demographic due to males tending to find humor in the small things. I feel as though if the same character were female, the commercial would be less effective because women tend to be more sensitive. This target demographic philosophy seems to be too narrow-minded of thinking. Statistics show that “On January 1, 2012, according to statistics released by the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt, a total of 51,735,177 motorized vehicles were registered in Germany. Of these, 42,927,647 were passenger vehicles or cars – an increase of 1.5% from 2011. This was an increase of 626,084 cars, while the new car market in Germany in 2011 saw 3,173,634 new passenger vehicle registrations.” (http://www.best-selling-cars.com/ .) With this information I can further deduce that it would very common for this amount of drivers in the country of Germany, to become involved in an accident of some kind requiring assistance in repairing damages or paying medical bills. Furthermore, I feel as though this commercial is finding an amusing, yet sneaky trick to target just about every demographic. From this, I can certainly understand why the insurance industry is successful and lucrative.…

In Wardaugh 2010 he defined Creole “as a pidgin that has become the first language of a new generation of speaker.” Over the years, the University of the West Indies Mona Linguistic Department along with Bible Society of the West Indies have played an integral role in the process of standardizing Jamaican Creole. Currently, their major project is translating the Holy Bible from Greek to Jamaican Creole. The translation of the Holy Bible was not only focus on getting Creole speakers to read but also to help the citizens to embrace their native tongue. The Jamaican Psalms Project Bible Society has a website where I commented on a few of their translations. My comments and justification are as followed.…

Without question, young people face many of life’s most important decisions in those transition years between high school and the working world. Unfortunately, too many students are unaware of their education and employment options. The path they follow to their careers is indirect, and their decisions are often based on scant information. The nation’s career guidance system is falling short. Business interests call for more properly trained workers, at the same time questioning the value of a traditional four-year college education in providing that training.…

Moreover, companies should improve the abilities of employees to adjust to progressions of society. The quickening pace of society require people to endow with more knowledge and skills.
