By June Reeve

You can support North Korean refugees make their escape to the freedom land, where to us, it is called Mongolia. Have you ever heard of the 3-Gen (generation) Law? In the 3-Gen law, if you say something bad about the dictator Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea, you, your father/mother, and your grandfather/grandmother can all get sent to prison just because you said something nasty about the dictator! Doesn’t that sound awful? We don’t have that law. Now do you see why we should support their freedom? Many North Koreans have attempted to escape the country. But due to many reinforcements,

If everybody had different rights, the world would be chaotic. For example, a U.S. man gets paid $3,000 per month working at a shoe factory, but a North Korean man gets paid only $3 per month for the same job. This can be stressful and can cause people to become ill, or even die. Think about it if you were the American man. Would you care? Most likely not. 7 out of 8 people would care, according to a recent poll. But even though you feel sorry for them, most people don’t take action to do something about it. Now think about if you were the North Korean man. How would you feel? According to the same poll, all people would feel mad. Doesn’t this sound unfair? For North Koreans, the man that gets paid $3 is more like their life. Most of them don’t even have jobs, a home to call their own, or food. Many people starve to death, when we could go to the nearby grocery store. Imagine if this was your life! If I was a North Korean, I would want this kind of …show more content…

Following the fall of the U.S.S.R., North Korea has almost directly become the empire of repression that George Orwell illustrated in Nineteen Eighty Four. Although North Korea is lacking in a technological sense compared to “The Party”, they have some very similar tactics such as the invasion of privacy, the creation of class systems and the use of propaganda to hold their oppressive power in place.…

In a communist economy, the whole market is controlled by the government in order to meet the people’s needs. Generally, the government decides what to produce, and try to produce only what and how much the people need. With the government in control, everyone is guaranteed the necessities for survival, such as employment, good education, and free healthcare (Doc B). This ensuring aspect gets rid of the worries of the people, such as being unemployed and not having social security (Doc F). Not one person has something more or better than another, so it creates true equality among the people. If one person receives up to a 5th grade education, so will everyone else. Communism “strips [the people] of their natural character” and eliminates the concepts of jealousy and competition (Doc E). This government-controlled market also means that the government can decide how much of each necessity the people are allowed to receive. Realistically, the government does not provide enough of anything for their people and use their hungry and uneducated population to their advantage. In North Korea, most families work on collective farms, but the profit that they produce all goes to the government. If they are lucky, they will get a very small return for their work (Doc C). Also, since everyone is required to live similar life styles, if not exact, there is no individuality, no bravery, and no creativity to help the…

When it came to China deciding to support North Korea, they made this choice because of the shared hatred for the enemy of North Korea (Yufan, Zhihai 94). In addition, this decision by China, also stems back to 1949 when Chairman Mao delivered a speech exclaiming how he is denouncing the United States as an imperialistic power seeking to dominate China, and with that he said China would now lean toward the side of the Soviet Union (Yufan, Zhihai 97). The Chinese Communist party did not want any more possibilities of United States ideals spreading into China, thus the reason for the Chinese leaning toward the Soviets. With that said, the Soviets joining North Korea is what made the Chinese join North Korea as well. In the aid of North Korea,…

A term has been coined to describe the regime in North Korea is ubuesque. The word means grotesque and bloody. If The Aquariums of Pyongyang is anything to go by, the word is well-coined. What is more grotesque and bloody than making concent-ration camp detainees, some as young as 15, watch and participate in frequent executions? Or young children being brutalized by “teachers” in what passes for “school” at the camp. Or children dying in accidental cave-ins as they’re forced to work without protective gear in underground mines. And when you realize that these children are sent to the camps with their parents and other family members, none of whom had committed any real crime, your outrage is extended. Most of these children do not survive because of malnutrition, brutality, and exposure to the extreme winters but, those who miraculously survive transform into savages, quick to steal any bit of food from the guards to supplement their near-starvation rations or trap a rat to add some protein to their diet. Chol-hwan Kang's memoir of his childhood in North Korea is riveting, heartbreaking, and one of those books that one must read in order to understand well the unknown prisons that continue to creep in the worlds society.…

The Cold War was fought between the United States and the Soviet Union, however, there was never any direct contact between the two nations. In this war, the United States fought for capitalism and the Soviet Union fought for communism. The United States and Soviet Union fought each other through Proxy wars - wars incited by a major power that does not participate in the war. Two examples of Proxy wars during the Cold War are the Korean and Vietnam Wars. The Korean war began in 1950 when North Korea surprise attacked South Korea. While China fought for North Korea who supported communism, the United States backed South Korea who was a non-communist country. Three years after the war started, in 1953, an armistice was signed and the Korean war…

But the problem is that not everyone has the same economically equality opportunity because of where they grew up. Even though everyone has the right to vote, not everyone has equal access to wealth knowledge, status and political power. Economic equality portrays to political equality in the sense that in order to obtain economic equality a person has to first have political equality. But America fails at this because there is a huge wage gap. Economic equality is a fantasy, used to justify giving benefits to favored group.
